Like a Rash… Moral Monday Spreading

First, an obligatory I told you so.

From the Atlanta Progressive News, emphasis added:

(APN) ATLANTA — Since August 19, 2013, a “Moral Monday” movement has been building in Georgia to take back our State government from the interests of corporations and wealthy people. The Moral Monday Georgia Coalition, which includes people of faith and citizens of Georgia, has been meeting every two weeks to plan for progressive actions during the 2014 Legislative Session. WRAL Report Excludes Obvious NCAE Ties

Well, local media is now on the Walk In Story. That’s good and bad.

Here’s the good:

Teachers taking this thing back are getting a forum with parents in their communities to discuss crucial points of interest that impacts them in their specific schools. Take Holly Ridge Elementary for example. They’ve put up their own independent site taking charge and setting the record straight. Holly Ridge apparently heard the criticisms from parents on the original messaging delivery is owning this their way. GOOD. BRAVO!

Here’s the bad:

Per normal, the local outlets are glossing over some of the details in an effort to be expedient. That’s a nice way of saying covering the rear ends of certain involved parties like the NCAE and their “member led” Organize 2020.

NCAE President Rodney Ellis spent his day in front of the media explaining a non-controversial walk-in on Monday… http://t.co/7LlZxneNdA

Reminder: Send those completed petitions to Larry Nilles, c/o Wake NCAE, 3900 Merton Drive, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27609
WRAL does a nice job of completely excluding that association in this report:

@wral Your Walk In video doesn’t mention clear NCAE Organize2020’s social media involvement. http://t.co/33DZXdbxjC pic.twitter.com/POpJLRpJz7 — LL1885 – A.P. Dillon (@LadyLiberty1885) November 2, 2013 Continue reading

Southern Workers Assembly Pickets Courthouse

News and Observer reports that today, the Southern Workers Assembly is picketing the Raleigh courthouse in support of the Moral Monday arrestees on trial.

A labor organization is planning to hold protests Friday in half a dozen Southern cities to demand charges be dropped against the more than 900 people arrested in “Moral Monday” protests at the North Carolina legislature this year.

The Southern Workers Assembly plans to picket in front of the county courthouse in Raleigh at noon. The protest continues in Goldsboro and Charlotte that afternoon. Additional picketing is planned in Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina and in San Antonio, Texas the same day.

The organization – a network of local unions and organizing committees – is specifically rallying around Saladin Muhammad, a labor leader who is the first Moral Monday protester to be convicted. His attorney, Al McSurely of Chapel Hill, says the conviction will be appealed to superior court.

Southern Workers Assembly’s page goes into detail about Saladin Muhammad who is very invested in unions:

Muhammad, a founding member of Black Workers For Justice, led the organizing as an organizer of the national United Electrical Workers Union (UE) that formed the North Carolina Public Service Workers Union-UE Local 150, which has been a leader in the campaign to repeal the N.C. state ban on collective bargaining rights for public sector workers.

Mr. Mohammad is also invested in Socialism: Continue reading

NCAE Sends Unionization Propaganda Flyer Home With Kids

A line was crossed tonight in Holly Springs, NC by the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE). A flyer for a planned Teacher “Walk In” was distributed to kids at Holly Ridge Elementary school in their ‘take-home folders’ today. This “Walk In” has been talked about in the media a bit but nothing hit as close to home as this did. This flyer had no business being ferried home by our children. Keep reading to see why. Behind Moral Mondays: Occupy, Unions, and Socialist.. OH MY!

For months, it has been illustrated that the Moral Monday ‘movement’ was enlisting every Left leaning group in the area. The rhetoric, the organizing — it’s right out of the Blueprint NC playbook. They include Occupy and various offshoots of it, Unions (both in and out of state), Union Social Justice front groups and Socialists. They represent a small minority in this state, yet seem to make the loudest amount of noise thanks to their friends in the media. Continue reading

Occupy 2.0: Fast Food Worker Protest In Charlotte, Durham

This past Tuesday, there was another fast food worker protest. This time it was in Charlotte and Durham, this time with the added theme of workers who are also on public assistance. It would seem Occupy 2.0 is still alive in North Carolina – but barely.

Find out how these union front groups tie into North Carolina and the NC NAACP’s Moral Monday circus. Continue reading
