Behind Moral Mondays: Occupy, Unions, and Socialist.. OH MY!

For months, it has been illustrated that the Moral Monday ‘movement’ was enlisting every Left leaning group in the area. The rhetoric, the organizing — it’s right out of the Blueprint NC playbook. They include Occupy and various offshoots of it, Unions (both in and out of state), Union Social Justice front groups and Socialists. They represent a small minority in this state, yet seem to make the loudest amount of noise thanks to their friends in the media. Continue reading

Oh, The Drama In Watauga

Well, WRAL has shown itself to be a shining example of media bias yet again with its latest headline: Watauga elections board scrubs meeting minutes. Super professional Laura Leslie reported:

Boone, N.C. — Parts of the minutes of a recent meeting of the Watauga County Board of Elections have been deleted at the request of the chairman, a move that a media attorney says invites legal challenges.

On Aug. 12, the two newly appointed Republican members of the board made big changes to Watauga County’s voting plans with no advance notice.

Over the objections of Kathleen Campbell, the lone Democratic board member, they voted to remove the early voting site on the Appalachian State University campus – about 5,000 voters used that site in 2012 – and consolidate the school’s Election Day precinct into a so-called “super precinct” of 9,000 voters, which is far larger than state law allows.

Luke Eggers, the new chairman of the elections board, said the changes would streamline voting and save money. County elections director Jane Ann Hodges disputed Eggers’ claims.

Oh the poor ‘lone Democrat’. I can almost hear the violins in the distance. Why do you suppose she is the lone Democrat, Laura? The WRAL article went on to champion the ‘lone Democrat’ and included some of Campbell’s theatrics:

“In what ways have you two not violated the open meetings law?” Campbell asked before the revised minutes were approved. “You boys should be ashamed of yourselves.”

Yes, shame on you… WRAL for only reporting one side. Again. Ms. Campbell is the one who should be ashamed of herself:

Unfortunately, there are indications around the state that Democrats are not ready to let go of their power and the old way of doing things. Two recent county board of elections meetings looked more like “Moral” Monday protests than a county board meeting.

The Watauga County Board of Elections meeting took place on August 12, with a newly appointed Republican member. The lone Democratic member, Kathleen Campbell, cursed throughout the meeting and condescendingly called the Republican board members, Bill Aceto and Luke Eggers, “boys”. And just like Mondays at the legislature, the attendees at this meeting screamed and booed and chanted throughout the meeting. – Source: Civitas

I can hear the complaints now. Oh, she’s citing Civitas. Must be a lie because.. Art Pope.. Koch Brothers!!! Sigh.

Well, since WRAL can’t be bothered to show you how it went down, I’ll do it: Continue reading

Voter Fraud IS Voter Suppression

Today’s article from WWNC’s Pete Kaliner rebutting Voter ID talking points from Democrats and the Left was a thing of beauty. In a nutshell: Succinct.

It would be hard to pick a favorite part, but this might be it:

CLAIM: “Ok, so there’s ONE case. But it’s not widespread.”

RESPONSE: We actually have no idea how widespread it is. The story I posted above is from October 2012. However, the attempted fraud occurred a year prior. Look how long it took to investigate and prosecute a case involving an elected official in a race decided by three votes. Simply put, resources are not devoted to investigating and prosecuting voter fraud. It’s hard to find what you’re not even looking for.

This is the same argument I made against WRAL and their use of Moral Monday arrestees as proof the crowds were made of in-state residents. We now know that clearly was not the case, but the argument is convenient and tidy. Continue reading

#MoralMondays: July 22nd Edition (snore)

It’s the 12th Moral Monday in North Carolina. Just like the previous 11 before it, number 12 was filled with fun signs, screechy womyn and an endless stream of hypocrisy flowing from Reverend Barber’s lips.

#MoralMonday: @WRAL In Full CYA Mode For NAACP, Lefties

If you thought WRAL couldn’t bend over backwards any further to legitimize the NAACP’s “Moral Monday”, you were wrong. A crack team of ‘researchers’, mainly from UNC Chapel Hill, have now decided to show up and poll the crowd. All 317 of them. It’s worth noting that quite a number of UNC Chapel Hill employees have been among those arrested in prior weeks.

Funny side note: I zinged WRAL about not having reporters actually out checking out the crowd and voila, now we have a whole team of researchers out there! Fun coincidence.

“Researchers find ‘Moral Monday’ crowd mostly from North Carolina”

Raleigh, N.C. — A team of researchers say a survey of the crowd at tonight’s “Moral Monday” protest shows that at least 311 of 317 of those surveyed are from North Carolina.

The protests, which have been led by the NAACP, have been organized to express opposition to a number of policies put forward by the Republican-controlled legislature. Spending on health care and changes to voting procedures have been staple targets of the protests, although tonight’s speeches focused on the environment and women’s health.

During the past two weeks, lawmakers and other high-profile Republicans, including state party chairman Claude Pope, have dismissed the protesters as “outsiders.” That line has been refined in recent days to say that there are “outside influences” on the protests. In fact, groups such as the Washington, D.C.-based Advancement Project have helped provide organization and media outreach for protesters.

That’s special, WRAL. Nice try. Your story and these researchers address THIS week’s protest, but not the June 3rd one. WRAL and the NAACP desperately want everyone to forget how after two weeks between protests that drew at most 250 people, suddenly there were over 1,000. It was magic.

On June 3rd, the number of people allegedly swelled over 1,000. That increase was due to influx of SEIU astroturf. WRAL came out hard denying that any out of towners were there pumping up the numbers by basing their crowd estimate on out-of-state attendees arrested over the course of all the protests to date. How stupid does WRAL think readers are?

What is funny is that their crack team of ‘researchers’ did confirm what I’ve been saying from the start. The crowd is mainly ticked off, old, White Liberals. In fact, overwhelmingly so:
Ethnicity Count Percentage
White 250 79.9%
African American 53 16.9%
Hispanic 6 1.9%
Asian/Pacific Islander/ Indian 4 1.3%

Gee, imagine that.

WRAL has also reported that 84 arrests were made yesterday. WRAL must have a special relationship with the Wake County Sheriff or General Assembly Police –because the ability to look up these arrests on the P2co website has been axed for the average tax paying citizen. Continue reading

@WRAL Beclowns Itself In Debunk Attempt of #MoralMonday Attendance

WRAL is nearly falling over itself to rush to the aid of the NAACP and Moral Mondays:

Of the 388 people who have been arrested over those six weeks, arrest records indicate only eight – or 2 percent – are from out of state. While not all who come to the rallies get arrested, the records provide the best verifiable snapshot into the makeup of the protesters. (link)

Wow WRAL. Hacktastic! By their logic, because only two people from out of state were arrested at the June 3rd event, it then follows no significant number of out of state people were possibly there. That giant jump in attendance from a few hundred to over 1,000 was just momentum…after being off for two weeks. Right, sure.

Except it wasn’t. Continue reading
