Liberal UNC Employs #ShutUppery; Blocks Funding for Conservative Speakers

The biggest nest of Liberalism in North Carolina arguably rests at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. A campus that touts its free thinking and open minds has proven just the opposite time and again. The latest round of #ShutUppery via College Fix:

Campus Leaders Call Conservative Women Unimpressive, Unworthy

Conservative female investigative reporters Katie Pavlich and Ann McElhinney are unimpressive nonacademics whose speaking honorariums are too high and credentials too unremarkable to pay to have them give talks at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill this fall, members of the school’s student government have agreed.

Despite pleas from College Republicans to finance the speeches, which would have cost about $8,000 from UNC’s student programming coffer of $124,000, a majority of student government members voted Tuesday night against funding the campus visits, with several members voicing concerns that Pavlich and McElhinney aren’t worth the price.

On the same night, UNC student government representatives tapped the anarchist group “UNControllables” to receive $4,000 to fly in a social justice crusader/academic from South America to speak on campus, and the feminists group Siren Womyn Empowerment Magazine was allocated $5,100.

What If NC AFL-CIO Threw A Picket And No One Came?

Well, T.G.I.F everyone!

We made it though this crazy week of pickets, marches and strikes. Speaking of pickets… This past Sunday I wrote about the upcoming ‘Picket Posh House GOP Fundraiser’ event set up and promoted by the NC AFL-CIO. The picketing went on this past Tuesday. No local media covered it. I even forgot about it until today. On Sunday, I speculated they might have protest fatigue — you know, all the Moral Monday-ing and all, and it looks like perhaps that speculation was right.

Poor sacks. Had to picket waaaaaaay down the entrance road and out on the opposite sidewalk to the Carolina Country Club. Continue reading

Video Of That ‘Non-Partisan Advocate For Clean Elections’

On the 17th, I wrote about Bob Hall of Democracy NC being touted as a ‘Non-Partisan Advocate for Clean Elections’. I included a tweet from Moral Monday held on July 8th in that article.

Now I have the video to go with that quote, courtesy of NC Renegade: Continue reading

Reverend Barber Engages In #ShutUppery (video)

Around 900 arrests made during Moral Monday to send a message to the GOP at the NCGA, yet when given the chance to engage in dialogue Reverend Barber chooses again for more #ShutUppery.

Nice catch here by WatchDogWire NC:

Also on August 20, Rev. William Barber, president of the North Carolina NAACP and a National Board member as well, held a press conference on behalf of King. He calls the challenge to King’s candidacy “a crime against democracy.” He goes on to say, “Let me say we will now take questions, questions from members of the media.”

When Betsy Meads, author of the video, identified herself as Vice Chairman of the Republican Party in Pasquotank County and a blogger on ElizabethCity.com, Barber motioned that he wanted to go to another question from the audience. Meads was attempting to present information to Barber which shows reasonable people agree that election laws for college student voters need to be adjusted. Continue reading
