Wake County teacher arrested for driving while impaired, controlled substance

A Wake County Public Schools teacher has been arrested for driving while impaired among other charges.

Katherine Lorene Hennenlotter, age 41, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, misdemeanor child abuse (family offense; non-assaultive), and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.

Hennenlotter was booked on June 9 at around 10 a.m. and bonded out just before 2 p.m. The amount of the bond is not known at this time but a request has been placed with law enforcement for more details.

Hennenlotter is an Honors English teacher at Panther Creek High School.

A request for comment was submitted to the district and WCPSS responded that Hennenlotter has been suspended. District Communications Director Lisa Luten said in an email that she was hired in January of 2003 and her current salary is $71,833.60.

A teaching license is on file with the state for Hennenlotter in the area of English 9-12. It will not expire until 2026 unless revoked.

Hennenlotter is the twelfth educator arrest tracked by this website in 2021.
