Lt. Governor Forest Continues to do ABC11’s Job – VIDEO #HB2

The Lt. Governor sat down for an interview with ABC11. They only aired a 30 second clip, so the Lt. Governor has been airing the rest.

Part Two
Part Three

Here’s Part Four:

We have a process in which laws are created in this country. However, our President thinks he can create law through the executive branch, while using extortion as a tool to force his radical social engineering agenda if States resist his overreach of power. These threats have implications and will harm our most needy of children and families. In Part 4 of my interview with ABC11, we discuss President Obama legislating from his unelected bureaucracy that every public school across America allow men into women’s restroom and shower facilities.

And Part Five:

The courts will ultimately determine what the word “sex” means. In my final video with ABC11, we discuss why HB2 should remain in place and what the bill actually does for citizens and businesses.

Haywood School Officials Show More Sense Than Obama Admin – #HB2

School officials in Haywood county have had some drama over Obama administration’s transgender edict for schools.  Apparently there was a rumor of protests among the students over having open bathroom access.

The school and district’s response was excellent and lines up with what Title IX already accommodates for under 504 plans, which is separate facilities when needed or required.

Some additional commentary on this situation from The Mountineer:

Nolte, who has been with the Haywood County School system for 30 years, said a shower situation is the same. Boys shower with boys, girls shower with girls, anyone who feels uncomfortable can talk with administration and something will be figured out on a case by case basis to help the student.

“Very few students use those, but there are individual shower stalls off athletic offices, but there have not been any requests to use a separate shower as far as we can remember,” said Nolte.

Nolte added it’s important for people to remember requests for using a private facility is nothing new and “has been happening for decades.”

“Maybe someone has a physical illness, or they are used to using the restroom at home and not around other students, or maybe they aren’t comfortable with a classmate for some reason,” said Nolte. “Accommodations were made to help these students feel comfortable and safe.”

Bailey made an announcement Wednesday over the intercom at the end of the day, reassuring students that boys will use the boys restrooms, girls would use the girls restrooms, and anyone who did not feel comfortable with the restroom that matches their birth certificate could approach him to discuss other options.

Nolte has been there 30 years, very few recollections of ever needing special accommodations because everyone was fine peeing and showering where they were supposed to. Go figure.

WLOS had a similar story, but less details, but the theme was the same:

New PPP Poll On #HB2 Nearly Identical To Last Poll, Including Dem Heavy Sample

pollsurveyIn April, Left leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) did a survey that included HB 2.

I took that poll and had some fun messing with their sample.  I also reviewed the results , which said more about parties and zip codes than anything about HB2.
PPP has released a second poll. I have a lay out of all the questions at the bottom of this article. Here are a few tidbits first.

This  new poll is very similar to the first one.  In fact, the needle really didn’t move much either way from their April poll.  HB 2 only  lost one point of support from May to April.

There is little to no change in the demographics sample sizes. PPP’s May poll used a list based method, not random sample. The only major demographics flux was in age ranges.

The May PPP poll had a question that April didn’t have: Do you think that HB2 should be repealed, or do you think it should be kept in place?

Democrat affiliation was still the lion’s share of the responses. Democrat affiliation ticked up one point between the April and May surveys, making them the majority of respondents by 8 points.

PPP isn’t known for their balance, unlike less partisan polls using firms like  National Research Inc. and SurveyUSA which have shown the majority of NC found the Charlotte ordinance unsafe and back HB 2.

LL1885 PPP Methodology Story 091413PPP have been caught skewing their questions to liberals and ‘troll polling‘. In 2013, PPP was called out by the New Republic for  flawed methodology, inconsistent data handling and then for deleting a question out of a poll all together.

It’s likely PPP will never see this article, since they blocked me on twitter for pointing that out.  That same year, Nate Silver hit them for suppressing a poll. Was he blocked?

PPP has the distinction of  being called the biggest  ‘herder’ in the polling industry. Herding, summarized, is adjusting your results to look like similar polls in the field. PPP isn’t herding with any other poll but their own in this case.

Civitas also repeated their poll as well and found that 56% of North Carolinians  are in support HB 2. PPP says only 35% support it. That’s one helluva gap.

The questions are not identical, but the Civitas question and the first PPP question of support have the same intent, let’s compare:

Favor:                 Civitas 56%  PPP 35%
Oppose:              Civitas 34%  PPP 44%
Didn’t know:   Civitas: 8%   PPP: 21%
Refused:            Civitas: 1%    PPP: Not one of 928 people refused? Field doesn’t exist.

Interestingly, Civitas’ poll was also heavy on the democrat side by 9 points and representing 42% of the sample. The Civitas poll had bigger percentages than the PPP poll of respondents residing in Raleigh and Charlotte. The sample size for Civitas was constant, whereas PPP’s had a 32 person variance.

Link to PPP APRIL POLL (960 people)
Link to PPP MAY POLL (928 people)
Link to CIVITAS APRIL POLL (600 people)
Link to CIVITAS MAY POLL (600 people)

I’ve created a comparison chart between the two PPP polls questions on HB2, as well as the demographic information. The only thing added to it was identifying the Area codes called. In terms of area codes called, both Asheville and Charlotte had two point increases.

Compare the PPP polls for yourself:

Get a Load of the Social Justice Warrior Indoctrinating Kids In Durham

Strap in, folks. This is a ‘hair on fire’ article.

Via News and Observer

Via News and Observer

On Wednesday evening, the News and Observer’s Ed blog dropped a story about a teacher at Hillside High in Durham.   Go. Read. It.

The teacher’s name is Holly Jordan. I’ve actually written about this woman’s exploits before.

She apparently teachers English.  She’s a full-blown social justice warrior and it’s clear from the N&O article her mission is to indoctrinate as many kids as she can.

Her speciality? Busting up ‘heternormativity’ and ‘gender norms’ in our schools.  Sounds familiar.

According to the News and Observer,  Jordan says it’s a “problem” in our schools:

“Gender norms and heteronormativity are being reproduced in our schools everyday despite the fact that there are many people out there who are trying to keep that from happening,” Jordan told the audience. “That is a problem happening in our schools.

“It’s our responsibility as educators – and as social justice-oriented human beings – to change that. That just doesn’t benefit LGBT students, transgender students. Equity practices benefit everyone.”

Gee. And here I thought getting our kids performing better at math, reading and other academic subjects was the big problem in our schools.

Jordan’s Social Justice Warrior Resume includes:

  • Member of the NCAE’s Social Justice Caucus, Organize2020
  • Member of Durham People’s Alliance
  • Member of Durham Association of Educators
  • Involved with NC Safe Schools
  • Adviser to Gay-Straight Alliance at Hillside High
  • Moral Monday Attendee and Arrestee
  • Holds workshops on fighting racism and economic injustice in our schools
  • Held a session on “Supporting Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Students” at the NPE 2016 conference. Reverend Barber was also a speaker and her husband was a presenter.

Jordan and Profit at Moral Monday Via Facebook

Jordan is the significant other to none other than Durham’s most radical teacher. Readers of this blog will instantly recognize the name, Bryan Proffitt.

Fun Fact: They both teach at Hillside. No media article I located on the pair bothered to mention that they are married.

Back to the News and Observer article:

Jordan also promoted the idea of using micro-affirmations to provide subtle everyday validations of who students are. She said that would help counter micro-aggressions such as asking if someone is a boy or a girl that, while not an outright incident of bullying, is something that “rubs you the wrong way” if you are a transgender student who hears that question every day.

One micro-affirmation, Jordan suggested, is to include on student information sheets the name on the roster and the name that students want to be called.

“Lots of kids and lots of adults want to be called by a nickname,” Jordan said. “Their name is Elizabeth and they want to be called Liz. No one ever questions that.

“So why is it a question if someone on the roster has a traditionally female name and wants to be called a traditionally male name? It’s fine.”

Jordan also suggested asking on the student info sheet for everyone’s preferred pronoun. She said it not only lets you know that the pronoun choice is different from the sex listed on the roster, but it also “subtly educates” students that it’s something that they can and should ask.

For instance, Jordan said she’s working on stopping calling people ‘sir’ or ‘ma’am.’ She said using those pronouns assume something you might not know.

And there it is, parents in Durham, this person is spending more time with your child than you do during the week. Are you comfortable with this?

Social Justice FactoriesSo, Jordan is a believer in micro-aggressions and the gaggle of trans pronouns but is totally unaware that her own course of action she suggests she employs micro-aggressions – by her own definition.

Kids who know there are two sexes (which is the VAST majority) now will be subjected to bullying by their own teacher. They are to treat everyone they encounter with kid gloves or be accused of micro-aggressions.

These kids are being instructed to ignore biology and treat everyone they encounter as if they were Pat of the Saturday Night Live fame.

SOMEONE STOP THE STUPID.

But wait, there’s more from Jordan, the Pronoun Police of Hillside:

“Some people do not prefer to go by she or he,” Jordan said. “They use a different pronoun and I have several friends in my life who prefer the they pronoun. There’s this sort of ridiculous, in my opinion, backlash around, ‘like but oh grammar.’

“I just think, speaking as an English teacher, I will say that anytime we think that the rules of grammar are more important than human respect, then we are doing something wrong in our classroom.”

‘Like but oh grammar’? This woman is an English teacher? As long as you use the right pronoun, it’s all good.

To the credit of the News and Observer article wraps up by detailing Jordan’s involvement in radical groups and notes her arrest at Moral Monday:

HOLLY JORDAN NCAE DAE ARREST 2016 NCGAJordan, who wore a ‘Black Lives Matter’ t-shirt as she made her presentation, has a history of activism. She’s a member of the social justice caucus for Organize 2020, a group formed by the N.C. Association of Educators.

Jordan was arrested at a June 17, 2013 “Moral Mondays’ protest in Raleigh while wearing a shirt that said “Public School Teacher.” Jordan made a statement on the Halifax Mall criticizing the General Assembly shortly before being among 84 demonstrators who were arrested by the N.C. General Assembly police.

Read the statement she made before her arrest in 2013 wherein she leverages children and emotional analogies to launch a political attack.  There are no actual facts in her statement. There’s really nothing about education in her statement. It’s all emotion.  It’s about politics.

I’ve said this more times than I can count: Social Justice has been replacing actual academic instruction for a long time.  Visit any college campus where students are afraid of chalk to see the results. Just ask Trigglypuff.

Until parents start standing up and pushing back on this crap by demanding teachers focus on actual academics and leave activism and politics out of the classroom, it will continue.

VIDEO: Is #HB2 Hurting the North Carolina Economy?

On Monday, Lt. Governor Dan Forest put out a video showing part of a 30 minute interview he had with ABC 11 on HB 2.

The station has only aired a tiny portion of this interview, so it appears Lt. Governor Forest is doing their job for them with yet another clip.

Senator Burr, Is The Whiplash a Bug or a Feature?

I’ve got whiplash.

My Senator, Richard Burr, is the one who gave it to me.

First, he tried to be invisible in the HB2 debate.

Then he opened his mouth with a statement that was worse than trying to be invisible.

Burr then turned around and signed off on the Senate letter calling out Obama for his transgender edict in our country’s schools. This appears to be largely symbolic given what Burr says next.

Yes, he’s back opening his mouth again. And it’s even worse.

Here are the quotes from Huffington Post’s article published on 5/24/16:

“Yeah, I’ve got issues,” Burr told The Huffington Post when asked if he has problems with his state’s new law, also known as HB 2.

“The legislature botched what they were trying to do,” he said. “It was far too expansive.”

[…]

“I think the General Assembly went too far and the City of Charlotte created an issue where there wasn’t a problem,” Burr said.

[…]

Even Burr said he didn’t blame local officials for sinking that agreement.

“To repeal it before you know what the General Assembly is going to do would be a mistake,” he said, hopping into a Senate train car taking him away from reporters. “That’s why it’s got to be the General Assembly and the City of Charlotte getting together and coming up with an agreed-upon package.”

The only part I agree with in Burr’s statements here is that HB2 should have been split into two bills — one for public accommodations and one for employment related issues.

However, that last quote should tell folks a lot.

NEWSFLASH, Senator Burr:  The whole reason HB2 even happened was to stop the Charlotte Ordinance from taking effect.

Charlotte needs to act first by rescinding it, PERIOD. The Charlotte city council proved Monday night they won’t budge and that they listen to the Human Rights Campaign, not North Carolinians.

The Huffington Post article mentions the new Public Policy Polling survey, which I will get to in a separate article. But the Huffpo piece also includes  how Burr’s opponent, Deborah Ross, is hitting him on HB2.

What is Burr doing to respond to Ross? By criticizing her for being soft of sex offenders:

To be fair, Senator Tillis is batting 1,000 on this front as well.

As I said before, HB2 is not a topic that  you ride the fence on and Mr. Burr, you’re going to lose this Fall.

It won’t be because more democrats are going to vote for your opponent. It’s because republicans are tired of you giving them whiplash and will skip your name on the ballot.

UPDATE: Conservative Review joins the chorus.
