Quick Recap of the race between Cheri Beasley and Mike Robinson
This is an Associate Justice race. Cheri Beasley is the incumbent, Mike Robinson the challenger. North Carolina judicial races are nonpartisan on the ballot, however the reality beyond the ballot is that Beasley is a Democrat and Robinson is a Republican.
Beasley was a 2012 Perdue appointment. In order to retain her seat, Beasley has to run for re-election this year. Beasley was apparently supposed to have one challenger – Ola Lewis. Lewis instead decided to challenge Mark Martin for the Chief Justice spot — a race which if Martin was running alone in as Chief Justice Parker was ending due to legal restrictions on age limit. It appears that when Mike Robinson entered the race, Ola Lewis decided to hop out of that race. I covered some of this in prior articles. See NC Supreme Court Races: Chief Justice Race and NC Supreme Court Races: Chief Justice Race Part 2. Continue reading
Assoc. Editor of Charlotte Observer pens Common Core Politization Piece
The associate editor of the Charlotte Observer is a clueless Common Core Propaganda pawn. I’m linking the NCspin posting of an ‘article’ by Fannie Flono because I won’t give the Charlotte Observer traffic for this egregiously incorrect piece of what can only be called propaganda.
Maybe Flono should stick to writing on “news, politics, and life in The Carolinas”. Flono is an ‘opinion’ writer, but anyone in North Carolina knows that in the News and Observer and Charlotte Observer, they write opinion to read like it is fact. Rarely in the last year has there been an article in local media that has dug into the truth about Common Core instead of parroting supporter talking points. This one was no different.
So again, I called the bias out. Continue reading
NC Supreme Court Races: Associate Justice Race PT 3
This Supreme Court Associate Justice race involves three candidates. The sitting Justice, Robin Hudson and two challengers. There will be a primary to narrow the field down to just two candidates. The race is non-partisan in nature, however Hudson, the incumbent, is a Democrat. Her challengers are Republican. In the first installment of the Associate Justice Race, we looked at challenger Jeanette Doran. The second article looked at Eric Levinson. Today we round out this race with a look at Robin Hudson.
