A former teacher at a prep academy located in Wilson, North Carolina has been arrested on a murder charge.
Fremont police arrested and charged Tyheim Pitt, age 26, with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of Nacarsa Ronyell Ford.
According to police reports, a shots-fired call originated at 402 Goldsboro St. last Saturday. When police arrived, they found Ford lying in the road after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Ford died at the scene.
Tyheim Pitt is being held in the Wayne County Detention Center without bond.
Pitt was hired to teach at Wilson Preparatory Academy in January 2017.
The school declined to comment in the Pitt’s arrest and a public relations representative for the school told media that “Wilson Preparatory Academy does not comment on private personnel matters.”
According to the school’s 2018-19 staff directory, Tyheim Pitt is listed as a teacher for “grades 8-12.”
In 2013, Pitt was a Senior at Livingstone College and was a linebacker on the football team.
While the main website for the college was unresponsive at the time this article was published, Wikipedia claims Livingstone is a “private, historically black Christian college in Salisbury, North Carolina.”
Two other suspects have also been arrested and charged in this case. Brandon Lee Williams, age 31, and Dequinta Laquell, age 26, were both charged with first-degree murder.
Williams and Horne join Pitt in the Wayne County Detention Center, both without bond.
Law enforcement is seeking a fourth suspect, Brandon Demarcus, age 30. Demarcus is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information in the case or on Haynes’ whereabouts is asked to call the Fremont Police Department at 919-242-5151 or Goldsboro/Wayne Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
