Moral Monday Arrestee and US Uncut Activist Arrested In NH On Voter Suppression Charge

In 2013, Moral Monday was in its early protest stages and was trying to spread out into other states. At that time, I reported on a group in Illinois that was using the Moral Monday theme to protest ALEC.  They called themselves the Moral Monday Coalition.

Well, this Moral Monday Coalition indeed were arrested during this protest. One member of that coalition was Carl Robert Gibson, who was dumb enough to record his ride in the police transport and post it on Twitter.

In 2013, Gibson, who originally hails from Wisconsin, was arrested at Moral Monday in North Carolina. Remember him?

I’ve well documented what a clown this guy is.

Scroll down to the bottom half of my article from 2013, Occupy Reincarnate: Moral Monday Coalition, and you will find everything you ever wanted to know about this guy, including of both the Illinois and the North Carolina arrest of Gibson. You’ll also find his affiliation to ‘US Uncut’, which is an SEIU-tied group that is also involved in the labor unions ‘raise the minimum wage’ campaign.

Now, flash forward to 2015.

Thanks to a tip from a reader, we have an update on Mr. Gibson’s activities.  Back in May of this year, Gibson was apparently arrested and charged with Voter Suppression by the New Hampshire Department of Justice.

The NH DOJ’s press release is below and the emphasis added is mine.

Carl Gibson of Concord Arrested for Voter Suppression

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announces that Carl Gibson, 28, of 26 Summit Street, Concord, New Hampshire turned himself into authorities on Thursday afternoon after a warrant for his arrest was issued. Mr. Gibson has been charged with voter suppression for knowingly attempting to induce voters to refrain from voting in this past Tuesday’s special election for state representative in Rockingham District 32. District 32 consists of the towns of Candia, Deerfield, Northwood and Nottingham.

Gibson is accused of providing a false press release to various news sources generally circulated in District 32, alleging that candidate Yvonne Dean-Bailey was dropping out of the race, thereby leaving the impression with voters that the special election was uncontested. Voter suppression is a class B felony. Gibson was additionally charged with the class A misdemeanor for distributing a false document purporting to be issued by Yvonne Dean-Bailey.

Gibson is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, June 22, 2015, at the 6th Circuit Court in Concord, New Hampshire at 8:15 am.

As of October 22, 2015, Gibson was indicted on these charges according to the NH DOJ:

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster announces that Carl Gibson, 28, of 26 Summit Street, Concord, New Hampshire has been indicted on alternative charges of voter suppression and attempted voter suppression by a Merrimack County Grand Jury.

The indictments allege that Mr. Gibson knowingly attempted to induce, or induced, voters to refrain from voting in the special election for state representative in Rockingham District 32, held on May 19, 2015. It is alleged that on May 14, 2015, Carl R. Gibson issued a false press release to various news sources generally circulated in District 32, stating that candidate Yvonne Dean-Bailey was dropping out of the race, thereby leaving the impression with voters that the special election was uncontested. District 32 consists of the towns of Candia, Deerfield, Northwood and Nottingham.

Both charges are class B felony offenses, carrying a maximum sentence of 3½ – 7 years in state prison and a $4,000 fine.

More on Gibson’s antics in New Hampshire are in this article posted by Rich Girard of the Girard at Large radio show in New Hampshire.

Also, read this one — the title and sub-title text alone are priceless:

Occupy Blogger Caught Up in Election Fraud Flap
“One too many beers” led Carl Gibson of Concord to send dirty trick email targeting GOP special election state representative candidate.

Wow.

Here are all my past articles mentioning Gibson:

NC Tax Plan Is So Bad, Democrats Are Copying It. #MoralMonday Hardest Hit.

To hear Moral Monday disciples tell it, our state is the most regressive, most evil, most backwards and greedy state… EVAH!

Yeah, things sure are dire here in the Tarheel state.

A few days ago, our state became the 9th state with over 10 million people in it.  Yep, we’re one of the fastest growing states on the East coast and a lot of the people coming here are from liberal, blue state New York.   Go figure!

Another piece of just awful news, North Carolina’s tax plan is so ‘bad’ that democrat governors are copying it.

Via the Washington Business Journal:

When it comes to lowering corporate taxes, Virginia is looking to this state

“When it comes to corporate tax rates, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe doesn’t look to Maryland or the District — he instead holds his state up to North Carolina.

“McAullife told me his proposal to lower Virginia’s corporate tax rate in 2017 to 5.75 percent from 6 percent was a direct response to North Carolina’s effort to lower its corporate tax rate from 6.9 percent in 2013 to 6 percent in 2014 and then to 5 percent in 2015…

“Scott Drenkard, the director of state projects at the Tax Foundation, said Virginia has traditionally competed with Maryland and the District when it comes to tax rates and economic development, but the rapid and dramatic series of tax changes in North Carolina is making it the state to emulate.

“That reform — which has also included North Carolina lowering and simplifying individual income taxes — has helped attract financial services and manufacturing jobs to the state and made it a destination for corporations looking to expand…”

JEEZ! The. Horror.

momo tax reforms sign

Actual Sign from Moral Monday… seriously. Because Jesus was about taxation, or something.

Moral Monday is pissed I bet.

They’ve been protesting for “climate justice” and “social justice” and “economic justice” and “wage justice” and “medicaid justice”… yeesh.

You get the idea, right?

Basically just slap the liberal cause du jour in front of the word ‘justice’ and you have yourself a Moral Monday protest theme.

The Left always screams about how it wants religion out of politics, unless it suits their religion of liberalism.

An #NCGA Christmas Present for Parents

I’ve just learned that parental rights champion Lisa Baldwin is running for the General Assembly.

Daily Haymaker has the scoop.

This is a Christmas present for parents concerned about the disappearing transparency in their schools, common core and the increased amount of social justice malarkey that is crowding out actual academics.

Fact: The legislature sorely needs candidates with education backgrounds and huge amounts of common sense like Lisa Baldwin and Tammy Covil.

Fact: Both are facing multiple challengers. This is, without question, the GOP Establishment trying to crowd Baldwin and Covil out.

Fact: These two ladies are real fighters, they understand the playing field, they understand the Left and they do not give up.  Period.

Without questions, Tammy Covil  and Lisa Baldwin will bring the boomstick to the General Assembly.

RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory, U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, and 2nd District U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers are among high-profile Republican incumbents who have drawn Republican primary opponents, but 54 other candidates were, in effect, elected to the General Assembly on Monday because nobody chose to run against them from either party when filing ended.

According to the State Board of Elections filing lists, 62 Republican candidates in the House have no primary opponents, and 22 of them will run uncontested in the general election, barring write-in or unaffiliated candidate challenges. There are 74 Democrats with no primary opponents, and 19 of them will face no challenger in the general election.

In the Senate, 36 Republicans are unopposed in the primary, and 29 Democrats are unchallenged. Of those, 13 candidates will be unchallenged in the general election as well — nine Republicans and four Democrats.

Common Core Commission won’t even consider MN Math, Yet DPI Contracts with WI on ELA – #ASRC

Jeffrey Isenhour was the member of the NC Common Core commission who was most viciously going after Dr. Ted Scheik on the math group’s recommendations.

Isenhour ridiculed, scrutinized and picked at Scheik until Scheik, an elderly gentleman, relented and changed his recommendation’s language. Isenhour then led the charge to vote down the changes that he himself just insisted on.

One of Isenhour’s biggest claims was that North Carolina shouldn’t be adopting a set of standards “wholesale” from another state without thorough vetting.

HypocritesFirst, the math group did vet Minnesota standards — for over six months. Isenhour knew this but figured the media would never question it and so far, they haven’t.

Second, Isenhour’s own argument applies to Common Core. North Carolina’s State Board of education adopted them wholesale without any vetting.

Third, I’d like to know what Isenhour has to say about DPI contracting with Wisconsin to ‘wholesale’ take not only ELA standards, but also tests directed at students whose first language isn’t English — these students are known as English Language Learners (ELLS).

Doesn’t this contract with Wisconsin (p. 2) provide amply proof that Common Core is fundamentally flawed and prove the commission’s findings that the ELA does NOT encompass all students like ELLS?

Does this contract not take Wisconsin work ‘wholesale’, Mr. Isenhour?

Why yes, it does.

Update: Dr. Scheick has noted that he, ” I did not relent.  I said that I would accept his propositions 1 and 2 provided we voted on 2 first, which was my wish.  JI would not do that.”

“I was embarrassed and ashamed for the way Dr. Scheick was being treated” – #ASRC

Some spectators at the final NC Common Core Commission meeting took notice when commission member Jeannie Metcalf got up, walked out and did not return.

Her departure was right after the first vote on the first set of math recommendations.  Some of us in the gallery surmised that she left because of Dr. Scheick being given the third degree in a rather ugly and purpose driven way.  We were right.

I asked Mrs. Metcalf what happened and if her leaving was due to what happened to Dr. Scheick during the math recommendations portion of the meeting.  This was her response:

Yes that is right.
First of all I was embarrassed and ashamed for the way Dr. Scheick was being treated. That group had 6 months to “vet” his recommendations.

Secondly my fears that I’d had from the beginning, that we were set up to fail, were quickly being realized. I was furious and wasn’t going to participate any longer in that sham. And McCrory, Tillis and Berger are entirely to blame. NO ONE on this committee should have had any ties to DPI. (June Atkinson signs the paycheck for 5 of the members and she’s the president of the group that gave us common core.)

Andre was the plant for the chamber and the business community who loves common core, plus his wife works for SAS which handles all the testing in NC.

The committee should have been filled with retired educators, parents, public officials who vocally and publicly opposed common core so that from the getgo we’d have been looking for replacements instead of renaming.

The failing fall on those mentioned above. I would have liked to have replaced the ELA standards with Sandra Stoskys and the math standards with James Milgrams. Quick, easy and we’d have had the highest best standards of any state. What a squandered opportunity. And again, this was the intended result FROM THE BEGINNING.

Well, there you have it. Metcalf was so disgusted she got up and walked out.

The Pro-Core powers that be controlled this process,  kept parents off the commission, intimidated the members and and brought pressure to bear at the 11th hour.

It was that pressure which resulted Common Core kermitin commission members impugning the character one of their own for the lone purpose of defending a set of line item standards. THINK ABOUT THAT.

So much for ‘state led’?

The only silver lining is that the vanilla and non-specific recommendations the Commission are about to turn in is the equivalent of a rebrand.  It looks like Senator Tillman is going to have to put his money where is mouth is.
