A now-former Pitt County assistant coach who was also a head custodian has been arrested and charged with sexual exploitation and taking indecent liberties with a student.

Victim /Case Details:
The Farmville Police Department was notified of the allegations on Jan. 21 when the parent of the girl filed a complaint.
Warrants say Joyner solicited nude photos from a female student and was inappropriately texting that student.
A termination letter from the district clearly states Joyner initiated the contact and includes two graphic examples of text messages sent to the girl.

Convicted Nov. 5, 2025, of solicitation to commit indecent liberties with a student, a Class H Felony that can carry up to 25 months in prison. Joyner was given probation instead. and was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family.
He was also required to register as a sex offender for a minimum of 10 years.
