Ruling Against Opportunity Scholarships For Low Income Kids To Be Appealed
Yesterday, Judge Hobgood ruled against Opportunity Scholarships for low-income and at risk kids. Today, we find that NC Attorney General Roy Cooper will appeal the decision.
N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper, a Democrat who has raised concerns about parts of the Republican legislative agenda, quickly announced plans for his office to appeal, according to Noelle Talley, his spokeswoman.
“Our attorneys believe that this is a constitutional issue that must be decided by the appellate courts,” Talley said in a statement shortly after the ruling. – News and Observer
Wait…For once in recent memory, Cooper is actually doing his job? So, what gives? Either he clearly sees this Judge is correct in his ruling or Cooper thinks this is a way to extend the BlueprintNC style slamming of Republicans on Education. Probably the latter if you that a closer look at the pushback. I’ve said this multiple times before, this is about protectionism of a system and not concern for these kids.

Video Stalker American Bridge Hits NC Candidate
*This is a reposting of my weekly column at DaTechGuy Blog.*
By A.P. Dillon
I’ve just gotten back from the Common Core call to action event, We Will Not Conform and my inbox has exploded. While I want to write about that experience in this article, I’m stepping away from it for a moment to write about something else. If you want to catch up on the We Will Not Conform, hit my personal blog.
In this article I’d like to touch on American Bridge and their stalker-like videos.
Taking a video of a politician leaving a fundraiser isn’t necessarily creepy in and of itself. It’s having an outfit like American Bridge dedicated to basically stalking those they politically disagree with that seems to take this to a stalker-like level. Congrats David Brock, you’re American Bridge project is the politics equivalent of the bottom-feeding celebrity paparazzi.
American Bridge has hit Speaker of the NC House, Thom Tillis with one of their videos. Tillis is running against Democrat Kay Hagan. Of course, one of the most Left leaning/BlueprintNC friendly outfits in NC is promoting the American Bridge piece.
Here is a snippet from the email below- by the way, nice typos guys! Might want to spell check next time. I’ve bolded them so you can take note. Continue reading

WCPSS Hires Single “Office Of Equity Affairs” Staff For $125k
Wake County Public Schools has hired someone for the new “Office of Equity Affairs”.
You read that correctly, “Office of Equity Affairs”.
The office’s budget is an annual $204,846, The title of the role there is Assistant Superintendent and is being filled by Rodney Trice with a base salary being $125,000. Let’s think about the optics here:
Teachers haven’t seen their raises yet.
The Wake County School Board, along with Superintendent Merrill, want to hike taxes to pay for their own county’s teacher raises.
Let’s keep a social justice office on the books and pay someone 125k to run it while a lawsuit related to said office is ongoing in Wake County. Coincidence I’m sure.

PolicyWatch Finally Writing on Common Core…
NC PolicyWatch (the blog mouthpiece of NC Justice Center/BlueprintNC etc) has picked at writing on Common Core over the last few months. They desperately want to jump on the the heads of the Republicans at the NCGA, yet the fundamental flaws with Common Core may have the writers over there taking pause at doing so just yet.
They do have an article up right now by Matt Ellinwood called, Diverse organizations support Common Core as N.C. and other states back away. Besides being written from a 30,000 feet view. It’s got a few important things wrong with it. I attempted to leave the following comment below, but I couldn’t tell if their site took it or not. Read the piece first, it’s short.
My response: Continue reading
