McCrory’s Democrat Common Core Advisors

In the last half-year or more, Governor McCrory has dodged giving a definitive statement in public on whether or not he supports Common Core. He doesn’t really need to, his staff is speaking for him and it’s clear the Governor backs Common Core. Clearly, our Governor hasn’t been paying attention to the siege being made on Governors in other states like Indiana, South Carolina and Wisconsin who are choosing to side with the fundamentally flawed and experimental standards.

The Governor probably hasn’t paid attention to the all out assault by moms in NY on Cuomo either or the campaign to get Oklahoma’s Mary Fallin to drop the Core. Either he’s ignoring all of that or he recklessly thinks he is somehow immune. If it’s the latter, the NC mom brigade will gladly visit the mansion with bullhorns.

Back to McCrory’s Common Core pushing staffers. This is an excerpt of the interview McCrory’s Education Advisor, Eric Guckian, gave to the News and Record: Continue reading

NC Chamber Holds Common Core Propaganda Forum – PT 1

Yesterday in Raleigh, the NC Chamber continued to wage war on the opponents to Common Core by holding a forum at Marbles Kids Museum. At this forum, speakers and guests included far Left leaning NC state Senator Stein, the COO of Achieve, Inc. and a few teachers who made some rather unsettling claims about the Common Core. Several people from SAS were there, of course. Remember, SAS has a ton of money to gain from Common Core, yet their own Cary Academy doesn’t use it. Hypocrisy anyone? The only opposition was our Lt. Governor, Dan Forest. Good for him for getting there and representing the will of the people.

Please note, this is part one of two on this event. I have more coming.

Politicizing by an NC Senator, propaganda from Achieve Inc. and the Wake County Teacher of the Year who claims she is a better teacher because of a set of standards. GOOD TIMES. Read more and see the tweets from the event… Continue reading

The Real Deal On The NC Common Core Bill

First Things First – Clearing the air
Those who follow this blog know I have been on the front lines of this fight for coming up on two years. Speaking for myself, I’ve given more time to this issue than I care to think about. It’s cost me friendships, time with my family and has been a big source of stress overall. Having said that, I wouldn’t change any of it since I’m fighting for my children and the children of NC.

Myself and others have done the presentation circuit and the radio shows. We’ve been testifying at various forums and in front of the Common Core Study committee. We’ve been writing, researching and meeting with legislators. All of this has culminated in a HB1061/SB812 – Replace Common Core To Fit NC’s Needs. This bill now has a companion in the Senate. Here are the bills that are relevant to the fight against Common Core:

SB815 – Ensuring Privacy of Student Records
SB812 – Replace Common Core To Meet NC’s Needs

Getting HB1061/SB812 passed is critical to being able to move forward with getting rid of the rest of it. It is critical we get the commission to replace up and running. Common Core is like a hydra, you can’t cut off all the heads at one time. Continue reading

#NC02: Aiken Says He ‘Hasn’t Paid Attention’ To VA Scandal

The Reality TV race in NC Congressional District 02 continues. Clay Aiken couldn’t be bothered to show up for the education task force he was appointed to by the President, can’t be bothered to pay attention to exploding VA Hospital scandal either.

The NC Dems sure picked a winner.

Occupy Monday’s First Day Back – Theatrical Flop (Images)

Occupy Monday came back for it’s first rally. The ‘Forward Together’ movement that its leaders claim is so popular and is sweeping the South had a mere hundred or so people show up according to footage shot by WRAL’s Sky Five.

Not much of a turn out for their big movement… Sky 5: Protesters march in downtown Raleigh http://t.co/AGct3Q9LPt #MoneyMonday #Theatrics

Much like their NCGA Welcoming committee, this turned out to be about the same size. The official media of Occupy Monday was there in epic style — Mark Binker and Laura Leslie from WRAL, that is. There’s video with their story. They spend a full seven minutes on what could be covered in one. Binker notes the lack of attendance and thinks it will pick up after Memorial day. Yeah, whatever.

The WRAL story headline is fun, “Monday Wrap: Many came but all were quiet”.

Why quiet? Because no Moral Monday would be complete without some kind of theatrics. They duct taped their mouths to protest new NC General Assembly building rules. No, I’m not kidding. Check out News and Record for a shot of one of them doing it. All that pot and pan banging has to stay outside. This change of course prompts Moral Monday protesters to scream, ‘I’m being repressed!!! but the rules before were too vague…’ or something.
