A lot of Spin on NC Spin Post-Election Episode
The amount of spin by Chris Fitzsimon in this episode is worth watching. John Locke’s Becki Gray does a nice job redirecting some of his comments.
The idea that this election was a refutation by voters of Obama’s policies was undeniable.

An Update On That CMS Sales Tax Referendum
Over the last month, I’ve been noting the politicking in our schools in part of the state over a sales tax referendum. That referendum didn’t pass. Color me shocked that no one wanted their taxes increased.
The referendum failed by a 3-2 margin according to the Charlotte Observer. Despite all that noise and fury, voters said ‘No’:
‘No’ votes outnumbered support for the increase by 61 percent to 39 percent with most precincts reporting, a margin that had held steady from the earliest returns. – Charlotte Observer, 11/4/14, Mecklenburg sales tax: Failed by 3-2 margin
WCNC had a breakdown of the proposal:

Gird Your Wallet: Wake County Commissioner Races 2014
The Moral Monday candidates took the Wake County Commissioner races last night.
Gird your wallets, people.
Frankly, I don’t know what Wake voters were thinking. These Moral Monday candidates ran under the banner of ‘More with Four’. Well, the ‘More’ in that title is more taxes. When those tax increases, mass transit boondoggles and bond referendums start to come, don’t complain to me. I warned you.
As for the NC GOP. Shame on you. You neglected these races and it look what happened.
These Moral Monday candidates didn’t have enough experience to full a thimble and instead of promoting the Republicans like you did last cycle, you seemingly blew it off. Now these big government, big spending, social justice crusaders are in control of our taxes.
GOOD GOING.
@NCGOP The lack of push behind the Wake comissioner candidates + lack of calling out biased N&O = Why you lost. Those were LAYUPS. #ncpol

Excuse the typo in the above tweet. Note to self, don’t type angry.
Across all four races, the party candidate numbers looked like this:

North Carolina made history last night with a new high for midterm voter turn out.
Thom Tillis defeated Kay Hagan.

The General Assembly kept a super majority in both houses.
Wake County Commissioner races were won by all four Democrats running. Be afraid for your wallet, people. Don’t complain I didn’t warn you about these people when they start to hike your taxes.
Chief Justice Mark Martin defeated Judge Ola Lewis. Other Judicial races were not so good for Republicans.
See my Storify Article, North Carolina Races 2014 , for statistics on these key points.
