ALL children deserve love, support and protection, Mr. Thompson. – #HB2

Rob Thompson,  senior policy and communications advisor for NC Child, wants to make sure we’re all sufficiently shamed.

Go read his article, LGBTQ children deserve our love, support, and protection.

Oh, so now the HB 2 narrative is about the horrors transgender children face?  How about the horror of a young girl going into a shower at a gym and being assailed by a man who would have had the legal right to be there under the Charlotte ordinance?

Thompson seems to be under the impression that we should all feel bad for the miniscule number of transgender children out there who are horrified by using the bathroom that corresponds to their biological sex.

Sure, I feel bad for them being confused or scared. However, Thompson’s article is less about those kids and more about employing a shaming tactic at the expense of common sense, not to mention welfare, comfort and safety of everyone else’s children in the state.

All children deserve love, support and protection, which is why HB 2 was necessary to reverse Charlotte’s dangerous and illegal ordinance.  It protects ALL children. ALL citizens.

Had it been a proposal for unisex accommodations in addition to single sex, we wouldn’t be having this debate. But it wasn’t and it was never intended to be. The Charlotte ordinance was about pushing social justice and progressive wish lists on the public.

This article seems to assert that the welfare, comfort and safety of the vast majority of children and women should be overridden by a extremely small minority who suffer from a DSM-IV classified disorder?

By ‘extremely small’, I mean  a national population of 51,359 transgender people out of around 300 million people. Evenly divided for the sake of argument, that’s 1,027 per state. Transgenders are .7% of the 2.3% identifying as Gay or Lesbian according to  National Health Interview Survey (NHIS).

The claim has been made in the lawsuit filed against HB2 that these few individuals require therapy such as using opposite sex facilities like bathrooms, locker rooms and showers.
Are we to then assume the state’s citizens are supposed to engage in a state-wide therapy session?

I am all for respecting another person’s needs and wishes. However, where does the line get drawn?

What’s next? Can one register oneself as cat if one identifies as feline? Where are the facilities for those identifying as feline? That’s not a joke. That’s a serious question.

The Corporate Hypocrisy on #HB2

Predictably, the LGBT community has once again made something all about them.  No, this is about me, my neighbor — everyone in the state.

Equality NC is positively giddy at the prospect that 80.. no, sorry, 120 businesses have signed their complaint letter.

Yes, sign their letter.. or else. You will be made to care. Especially in Asheville.

The corporate hypocrisy is palpable. As I said in my latest article at IJ Review, I doubt any of them even know what the law says, that goes double for the Charlotte ordinance.

Brian Balfour at Civitas lays out some of the bigger hypocrites like Redhat, who had a corporate welfare package around $20 million.

HypocritesTake a look at Apple, one of the companies stomping its social justice foot. Isn’t their headquarter’s men’s room sign awesome?

Wait, they have a men’s room? Where’s the unisex bathroom sign? After all, that’s what the Charlotte ordinance decreed — No single sex bathrooms anywhere in the city limits.

None of these business seem to be going anywhere, save for the already fickle entertainment industry folks who flock to whatever state gives them the biggest tax break or subsidy.  I’m with Glenn Reynolds on this one — repeal the Hollywood tax cuts.

The NCAA is musing about cutting North Carolina ‘out of the loop‘ for future tournaments, yet where is the 2016 NCAA Final Four being held? In Houston, where an ordinance  just like the one in Charlotte was defeated.

The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) wasn’t defeated by the Texas legislature, it was defeated by the voters by a wide margin of 61-39%.  Perhaps Charlotte took a page out of that book and made their ordinance go into effect so quickly — so the legislature couldn’t put it on the ballot.

What’s interesting to me is to see how, with the help of ridiculous slanted media headline, HB 2 is now being called  an ‘LGBT bill.  It’s not. It’s a privacy and public safety bill that was a necessary reaction to Charlotte’s dangerous and illegal ordinance.

You don’t see the media ever really mentioning the Charlotte ordinance and what it did or that the effort was being spearheaded by a now former member of the Charlotte LGBT Chamber of Commerce — who is a registered sex offender.

Here’s what the Charlotte ordinance did, and what arguably these hypocritical corporations are siding with:

  • Made single sex bathrooms illegal inside the city limits for state and private businesses, as well as schools.
  • Granted legal access to any facility, at any time, by anyone.  This opened the door for sexual predators to have legal access to areas they did not have before.
  • Violated the NC Constitution.
  • Violated multiple state privacy statutes (indecent exposure).
  • Violated existing state criminal trespass law.
  • Violated building codes.

BluePrint NC Parent Organization Fundraising Off HB 2 – #ncpol

This is not an April  Fool’s Day post.

Never let a good manufactured crisis go to waste. Or as BluePrint NC puts it: Cripple, Eviscerate, Pressure, Slam.

Civitas-map-of-Blueprint-NCThe NC Justice Center, which is the parent organization for BluePrint NC, is fundraising off of “hateful and discriminatory HB 2”.

Yes, you read that right. NC Justice Center is assailing the protection and safety of NC Citizens to line their bank account.

Here’s the email from former Legislator turned Social Justice Warrior, Rick Glazier, who now heads up The NC Justice Center.

Subject: HB 2 – Our Stance, and Our Work
To: WinstonSmith@DoublePlusGood.Org

Early this morning, a federal lawsuit was filed challenging the hateful and discriminatory HB 2. We had no doubt that this law would face inevitable backlash, both in the public and in the courtroom. The Justice Center is proud and honored to be a part of that work.

Like most in the state, we were shocked and appalled by the actions of the legislature last Wednesday. Since then we have worked tirelessly to cover the issue, attempt to stop it, and now help efforts to repeal it.

Our staff and our work depends on contributions from supporters like you, who follow our work and rely on our coverage to stay up to date on this vital issue.

Early Wednesday morning we had staff lobbying at the General Assembly, speaking to the House and Senate about why this bill would be harmful to business, local government rights, and most importantly, our citizens.

NC Policy Watch began immediate coverage of businesses and community leaders speaking out against HB 2, as well as national coverage of its passage.

Justice Center staff prepped numerous other columns and editorials, and responded to multiple requests from media.

Tomorrow, NC Policy Watch will hold a Crucial Conversation featuring Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts, focusing on the state’s decision to overturn her city’s ordinance.

Please read our full statement from Executive Director Rick Glazier, and please consider supporting our ongoing efforts on HB 2.

Special Rainbow Snowflakes Fell In Chapel Hill – #HB2 #NCGA

Fellow blogger BobLee Says, put up an article yesterday that was  titled, Stoopidest Moment in HB2 History (so far). Go read it. I promise, it’s worth your time.
Rainbow SnowflakesIt was certainly worth my time to learn that the useful idiot students at UNC Chapel Hill decided to block traffic over HB 2.

Special Snowflakes are even more special when they’re rainbow-colored, I guess.

Anyhow, BobLee Says’ article links to the story at Chapelboro.com.  What I am excerpting below is not typo’d, it is how it was reported. The underlined emphasis is mine:

Organizer June Beshea said it was part of the plan.

“I’m excited at this moment,” said Beshea.

She was planning on staying until she was made to leave.

“I hope that get rid of the bill, I mean the law, but I’m going to get that I am going to get arrested tonight.”

The police let a few buses through but shortly afterwards, those that had move to the sidewalk returned to the street, where they continued to chant.

Traffic was blocked for almost three hours before the protest ended. No arrests were made.

It’s possible Beshea’s quote is a misquote, but the content is hilarious given she was so excited to get arrested and no arrests were made.

Let’s take a quick look at one more outlet before we talk about Ms. Beshea some more. Let’s hop on over to Indyweek, the liberal paper so far left it falls off the edge of the spectrum.

Fair warning, salty and NSFW language from here on down.

Indyweek article title: Look Out, Lawmakers: Protesters Are Ready to “Shut Shit Down!” Over HB2

Opening paragraphs:

Surrounded by around a thousand trans, gay, lesbian, non-gender-conforming and other supporters of human rights and decency, Olive Fadole took a turn at the mic that was plugged into a small guitar practice amp, and said what was surely on the minds of those who attended the Chapel Hill rally on Tuesday evening.

“I am beyond disgusted. I will not stand for this fucking hate law. Fuck you, Pat McCrory.”

In a gathering that blocked portions of Franklin and North Columbia streets for a few hours, protesters against the new HB2 law gathered around 6 p.m. at the Peace and Justice Plaza in front of the post office. From there, they marched to that Columbia intersection, and that’s they formed a circle, blocking traffic both ways. Some leaned on a CHPD car that was parked across the intersection for their protection.

Within that “power circle,” Fadole and others — trans people, gays, lesbians and people of color were given priority in that space — had the opportunity to speak their minds about the HB2 legislation that deliberately put discrimination into state law.

“Power Circle”?
Is that like the campus ‘Safe Spaces’ for Special Rainbow Snowflakes?

A “thousand” people showed up?
There we go with media crowd inflation again. Lefty social justice outfit, Ignite NC, says it was 500. But it looks like less than that in their own tweeted video:

But wait, there are three more F-bombs from one Delores Chandler who works at the Orange County Rape Crisis Center:

“I teach your children,” said Chandler. “I’m transgender, nonconforming, queer as fuck. I am a sex educator. I teach your childrenI teach them about consent. I teach them about sexual harassment, and how it is not like flirting, I teach that if you have the style, that you can wear whatever the fuck you want; how you can go wherever the fuck you want. And that you can pee wherever you want.”

Lovely person, eh?  You will be made to care… because F-bomb, or something.

Not only have we been yelled at with the f-bomb three times in one statement, but parents got a nice veiled threat — “I teach your children.”

Let’s go back to the organizer, June Beshea.

The following is all public info, available via a simple Google search.

According to Beshea’s Instagram, Beshea’s name isn’t June, it’s Jasmine.

On Twitter the Beshea’s account is @Jaekey_Deion and the description says, “They/Them. Poet. Black Activist. Queer.”  Pay attention to the banner picture.

From “they/them” Twitter account of @Jaekay_Deion:

That’s “they/them” on the ground locking arms, excited to be arrested. Must have sucked to not actually get arrested, but just to have only blocked traffic and succeed in ticking off the locals trying to get through there.

According to “they/them” LinkedIn, “they/them” is an Resident Adviser and lab assistant at a cancer center.

According to Beshea’s blog “they/them” is a poet/writer.  One of her writings is clearly approving of the vandalism of Silent Sam, which is not surprising given she was the organizer of the “real Silent Sam” movement.

The bio on Beshea’s piece that includes Silent Sam, “June Beshea is slam poet and artivist who makes her home in Atlanta, GA. She is currently a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill where she has launched her initiative, #BlackHeal, to create healing spaces for Black people in the triangle area.”

According to an interview article on UNC Chapel Hill’s “feminist magazine” called The Siren, her long-term goals are “to get a Ph.D. in Africana Studies with a focus on womanism” and to go live out “on a commune somewhere … harvesting beans“.

Not Backing Down: NC Governor, Lt. Governor deliver the facts about #HB2

Media, business and the Left in North Carolina have been setting their narrative: HB 2 is Anti-LGBT.

No, it’s not. Not even close. The bill is an anti-discrimination bill — the first of its kind in the state even though Democrats controlled this state for over a hundred years.

The circus has begun. This is an agenda and You will be made to care – or else. Just like they are delivering what are essentially threats to business owners in the Asheville area of the state.

The Governor and Lt. Governor are not backing down. They’re fighting. GOOD.

Yesterday, Governor McCrory released a video message, addressing the ginned up smear campaign that is reminiscent of the way the LGBT community bullied Governor Pence and Indiana over their religious freedom bill.

Excerpt:

“Some have called our state an embarrassment. The real embarrassment is politicians not publicly respecting each other’s positions on complex issues.

“Unfortunately, that has occurred when legislation was passed to protect men women and children when they use a public restroom, shower or locker-room. That is an expectation of privacy that must be honored and respected.

“Instead, North Carolina has been the target of a vicious, nation-wide smear campaign. Disregarding the facts, other politicians, from the White House to mayors and city council members and yes our Attorney General, have initiated and promoted conflict to advance their political agenda.  Even if it means defying the constitution and their oath of office.

“Obeying the laws of the land, living up to the duties of the office and defending the constitution is the foundation of my governorship.  I am standing up to the president of the United States to prevent federal overreach to take over our North Carolina waters in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

Also, Lt. Governor Forest went on CNBC to talk about HB 2, which has been the hot topic in North Carolina for rolling back the radical, dangerous and Charlotte facilities ordinance.

The interviewer from CNBC starts out with full-blown bias, calling HB2 ‘anti-LGBT’. The host then claims 80 business leaders have come out with the same slam and calling for a ‘full repeal’.

Calling for a repeal of something that benefits business, yet they clearly haven’t read. Awesome.

Crying HB2 Not ReadThe Lt. Governor comes out of the gate hitting them for it, “Well, first I’d say read the bill. They haven’t read the bill.”

No, they haven’t. They are knee-jerk #HB2Liars.

It should worry a lot of folks that people running major businesses can’t be bothered to read the law nor the Charlotte ordinance.

These are many of the same businesses who have pushed Common Core, by the way, and their hypocrisy has been well documented by Brian Balfour at Civitas.

Of note, NC is expected to take in $237 million more in revenue this year than expected. But how? We’re so discriminatory according to all these businesses who had NO PROBLEM doing business in our state prior to the ridiculous Charlotte ordinance.

Don’t forget, the man leading this charge in Charlotte is a registered sex offender.  Moreover, he was on the LGBT Chamber of Commerce until his status came out and he resigned. Not a single business stomping it’s corporate foot has mentioned this.

But you, the mom worried about pedophiles or predators having legal access to any facilities they want  under that ordinance? You’re nuts, got it?

On the flip side, are all transgender people predators? No, of course not. But the one who was leading the charge in North Carolina is and the media conveniently keeps leaving that out.

A prayer vigil for our leaders to stay strong is scheduled for this evening. Those interested can get details here.

REMINDER….

The Charlotte Ordinance did the following:

  • Made single sex bathrooms illegal within the city limits.
  • Granted legal access to any facility, at any time, by anyone which opened the door for sexual predators to have legal access to areas they did not have before.
  • Violated the NC Constitution.
  • Violated multiple state privacy statutes (indecent exposure).
  • Violated existing state criminal trespass law.
  • Violated building codes.

HB 2 does the following:

  • Rolls back Charlotte’s ordinance as it superseded their authority and state law.
  • Puts into place a uniform statewide anti-discrimination policy on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age or sex.
  • Establishes a single, statewide standard for K-12 public schools, public buildings, and other public areas throughout North Carolina.
  • Schools and other facilities are NOT prohibited from providing reasonable accommodations such as single occupancy/unisex bathroom.
  • The bill makes it easier to do business in North Carolina; it prevents businesses from being forced to comply with different rules in different cities/municipalities across the state.
  • Ensures attempts that future ordinances will not have to go through this same fight
