Occupy Monday FL Featuring Rev. Al

The Reverend Al is jumping on the Moral Monday bandwagon in Florida. Circus nearly complete – we’re just missing Jesse Jackson now. See below, emphasis is mine.

The Rev. Al Sharpton led a crowd of about 1,000 people to the Florida Capitol on Monday, demanding that Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature fix or repeal the “stand your ground” self-defense law.

Sharpton marched alongside the parents of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis, two teens the marchers said were wrongly killed under Florida’s first-in-the-nation law, which allows people to use deadly force when they feel their lives are in danger and provides immunity from prosecution.

‘Wicked law’
“Florida is ground zero for a sick and wicked law that has now spread through 23 other states,” Sharpton told the crowd on the Capitol steps. Continue reading →

Why Won’t @NCAE Answer A Simple Question?

I’ve asked the NCAE’s Twitter account multiple times if they are involved in the formation of Aim Higher NC. It’s been nearly two weeks since I began asking and have received no reply. #DM7 Article: Racism Wrapped In A Preachers Collar

On February 8th, downtown will host to the annual HK on J march (Historic Thousands on Jones Street). The NC NAACP holds it every year. This year they are calling it a “people’s assembly”, which reminds me of Occupy in a few ways. Given the recent racist remarks about black conservatives from NC NAACP’s Reverend Barber, one has to wonder what he will say next to top it.

So, the NC NAACP held their ‘grassroots’ Moral March – which was really just the annual HK on J (Historic Thousands on Jones St) with a bunch of groups bused in to make more noise. The main protest point, among the laundry list presented, was voter ID.
