Protests At Apex School – Sign: Teachers Have No Union
children in this manner is appropriate. It’s not. I wonder what would happen if a bunch of moms started protesting Common Core in front of the school? Would that be appropriate too?
Today in Apex, one such protest happened (tweet below). Note one of the signs “NC has no tchrs. Union.” Those poor tchrs. No union.

Is Roy Cooper An NCAE Rep or NC AG?
Boy, someone sure is campaigning for Governor early. It’s almost as if he doesn’t have a job already or something…Is he trying to avoid lying his way into a new office?
In my inbox, a call to sign yet another teacher pay petition. This one is on his campaign site. See below. Continue reading

Olde Providence Elementary’s Activist PTA
Yesterday I reported on Olde Providence Elementary using their school’s front display sign to push teacher pay as well as sending home letters with students there on the topic calling for ‘action’ by parents.
Today, I have a follow-up. No, the Principal has not returned my request for comment. Another parent has forwarded me an email from the Olde Providence PTA which further pushes parents to act on teacher pay. The letter includes links to legislator emails and a template. This email came from the President of the Olde Providence PTA, Mitzi Lynch. Continue reading
Teacher Pay Flier, Signage At A CMS Elementary
Yesterday, two photos were sent to me regarding Olde Providence Elementary school in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district. These photos had to do with the state of teacher pay in North Carolina and the use of Olde Providence school’s main front sign and a flier sent home with students. More activism involving our kids? It would seem so. Continue reading
CCSSO President Atkinson Starts Campaigning Early
NC State Superintendent and President of the CCSSO Dr. June Atkinson recently spent time speaking to the Carteret County Democrat party. Atkinson assaulted the current legislature for teacher pay while conveniently leaving out the role both she and former Governor Perdue played in freezing teacher pay in the first place.
Despite having the highest graduation rate in the history of the state, North Carolina’s public education system needs support to survive the recent wave of changes enacted by the General Assembly, State Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson said on Saturday to county Democrats.
