Durham Elementary School Employee Charged With DWI, Hit And Run, Marijuana Possession

An employee of a Durham elementary school is charged with DWI and two other offenses related to a head-on crash on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.

Jeanna Jenning Joint, age 37, is charged with misdemeanor Driving While Impaired, Hit/Run Leaving the scene of an accident that includes property damage and possession of up to 1/2 ounce of Marijuana.

The Hit/Run charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor, the Marijuana charge is a Class 3 Misdemeanor.

The head-on crash on Glenwood Avenue happened due to Joint heading west in the eastbound lane. A man was injured in the accident and Joint attempted to leave the scene. Charging documents say police discovered marijuana in the car Joint was driving after the wreck occurred.

The arrest occurred April 8 and a bond was set for Joint of $4,000.

Joint is the treasurer at Holt Elementary School, which is a magnet school in Durham. According to a Durham Public Schools, she has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Joint has been arrested twice before, once in 2011 for misdemeanor larceny and once in 2013 for simple assault.
