#MoralMondays: June 24th Edition

It was another Meltdown Moral Monday at the NC General Assembly today courtesy of the tantrum throwing Left. The usual suspects were there – NAACP, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Occupy, NC Student Power Union, BluePrint NC, NC Justice Center, NC Policy Watch, along with a host of others. Last, but not least, the NC AFL-CIO was the big attraction this week. More folks bused in because none of the thousands of employees in the multitude of state buildings flanking the NCGA wants to join their fracas:

It looks like there will be big numbers once again at today’s Moral Monday protests. Friends report (and this article confirms) that two busloads of outside agitators will be coming from Asheville alone this afternoon.

Perhaps that is because this ‘movement’ is not representative of NC like they claim. Oh goodie! AGITATORS! Now we’re talkin’! Hey, my source tells me it was more than just two buses. They spotted five making drop offs while on their way to get the heck out of there. They were unable to get close enough to check the plates this time. Shame. I bet they were all from North Carolina though, don’t you?

I watched some of the speeches. Listened to Barber thunder on, sermonizing and demonizing. One could even characterize it as threatening; not unlike Occupy rhetoric. It’s all about morality, racism, extremism and how awful it is that the grownups had to come in and clean up decades of Democrat made messes. Real pity, that. The only extremism I see is the messy, hypocrisy laden musings of a Reverend attempting to stay relevant.

Forward! Together! Water rights or…something.

Prior to today’s scheduled hissy fit, the first wave of protesters hit the courts. They want their cases dismissed, despite costing the taxpayers tens of thousands. Once again, our Liberal friends misunderstand or don’t know their history. Civil Disobedience has historical significance, but it also means taking the consequences along with the coveted media coverage. Complaining you don’t want to pay after you scarfed down the whole meal is not just lame, but a crime. Time to ante up.

Once again, I assert this is not about any of the touchstone Liberal causes the Reverend is using to whip up a frenzy in the useful pawns that have decided to follow him into arrest. This is about the loss of control. The sheer volume Barber is yelling his slew of shaming labels attests to the panic in the Left in North Carolina. This state has voted not to become New York or California and they are in free fall. Via Daily Haymaker:

Rob “Mr. Politics” Christensen says North Carolina politics has gone from “polarized to paranoid.” The guy who was the first — and I think ONLY – member of the news media to ever be physically removed from a NCGOP convention, says we are overreacting to what he and his comrades have been doing: […]Which brings me to the conservative fantasy – being flogged by Pope, Gov. Pat McCrory and other Republicans: that there is a vast Democratic conspiracy to take them down. Never have the Democrats had less clout in North Carolina. They have lost control of all three branches. The state Democratic Party is in disarray. The party’s sources of money have dried up. No new leaders have stepped forward. It’s best response so far has been getting arrested – a tactic traditionally reserved by the powerless in societies. And how did this vast Democratic conspiracy develop you might ask? Faced with what they knew would be an unstopped onslaught of Republican-backed legislation , liberal groups held a strategy session in December on how they might slow it down. A three-page memo was prepared by Jessica Laurenz, North Carolina director of America Votes, a liberal group that works with a coalition of other liberal groups. The memo says the Democrats didn’t have a prayer to pass anything they wanted, but their best shot was in “mitigating” the damage done by Republicans by crippling GOP leaders McCrory, House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate Leader Phil Berger. The memo lays out numerous ideas, including videotaping GOP leaders’ speeches, hiring private detectives and in other ways attempting to “eviscerate the leadership and weaken their ability to govern.”

Videotaping, private detectives, evisceration… sounds pretty ‘extremist’ to me. Ah, our unbiased media… like the writer from the Asheville Citizen Times:

Get mom and pops in the car there, Casey.

Anyhoo — Let’s see some tweets from today’s mayhem, shall we? Let’s start with the crowd size estimates that seem a little out of whack given the average attendance (excluding the astroturfed June 3rd event) is around 300 people. ABC11 doesn’t even mention crowd size at all in their evening report. You’d think if it was a big turn out that would be the headline, no?As of this post, WRAL didn’t even have a story up on it. I find that odd since WRAL has been such a wonderful supporter of Moral Mondays.

Remember, no one was arrested that didn’t hit the NAACP Lawyer meeting beforehand: Continue reading

#MoralMonday and @WRAL Get Owned by Civitas

Over at ABC 11, there’s a story up about the Moral Monday protesters trying to save their credibility in the face of Civitas’ breakdown of their movement. I was happy to see this site pop up since I’ve been slogging at this movement alone for some time now. I was equally happy to see them call out local media on their biased coverage. Continue reading

#MoralMonday: @WRAL In Full CYA Mode For NAACP, Lefties

If you thought WRAL couldn’t bend over backwards any further to legitimize the NAACP’s “Moral Monday”, you were wrong. A crack team of ‘researchers’, mainly from UNC Chapel Hill, have now decided to show up and poll the crowd. All 317 of them. It’s worth noting that quite a number of UNC Chapel Hill employees have been among those arrested in prior weeks.

Funny side note: I zinged WRAL about not having reporters actually out checking out the crowd and voila, now we have a whole team of researchers out there! Fun coincidence.

“Researchers find ‘Moral Monday’ crowd mostly from North Carolina”

Raleigh, N.C. — A team of researchers say a survey of the crowd at tonight’s “Moral Monday” protest shows that at least 311 of 317 of those surveyed are from North Carolina.

The protests, which have been led by the NAACP, have been organized to express opposition to a number of policies put forward by the Republican-controlled legislature. Spending on health care and changes to voting procedures have been staple targets of the protests, although tonight’s speeches focused on the environment and women’s health.

During the past two weeks, lawmakers and other high-profile Republicans, including state party chairman Claude Pope, have dismissed the protesters as “outsiders.” That line has been refined in recent days to say that there are “outside influences” on the protests. In fact, groups such as the Washington, D.C.-based Advancement Project have helped provide organization and media outreach for protesters.

That’s special, WRAL. Nice try. Your story and these researchers address THIS week’s protest, but not the June 3rd one. WRAL and the NAACP desperately want everyone to forget how after two weeks between protests that drew at most 250 people, suddenly there were over 1,000. It was magic.

On June 3rd, the number of people allegedly swelled over 1,000. That increase was due to influx of SEIU astroturf. WRAL came out hard denying that any out of towners were there pumping up the numbers by basing their crowd estimate on out-of-state attendees arrested over the course of all the protests to date. How stupid does WRAL think readers are?

What is funny is that their crack team of ‘researchers’ did confirm what I’ve been saying from the start. The crowd is mainly ticked off, old, White Liberals. In fact, overwhelmingly so:
Ethnicity Count Percentage
White 250 79.9%
African American 53 16.9%
Hispanic 6 1.9%
Asian/Pacific Islander/ Indian 4 1.3%

Gee, imagine that.

WRAL has also reported that 84 arrests were made yesterday. WRAL must have a special relationship with the Wake County Sheriff or General Assembly Police –because the ability to look up these arrests on the P2co website has been axed for the average tax paying citizen. Continue reading

#MoralMonday: Transparency Fail by Wake Sheriff, Courts

I’ve been tracking the arrests at Moral Monday for the last month and had no problem accessing the once public records of the arrests, that is up until last week. The Wake County Sheriff site has stopped making the records of these arrests public information.

Transparency!

Huge hat tip to Civitas:

Let’s say you’re an ordinary citizen and you trespass on someone’s property. You come back the next day anyway. You get arrested again, and this time you’re charged with contempt. Wait – what’s that? You’re the Rev. William Barber? Never mind. Please, come inside. Continue reading

#MoralMonday : June 10 Arrests Edition

The records are taking their sweet time being loaded at the Wake County Sheriff’s site. I’m not linking to every record this time as the WCS site won’t let you permanently link to records. Those curious about the number of clergy, Liberal university professors, the unemployed/retired, in other other words mainly older White Liberals, being arrested can do their own search at WCS. It’s worth noting that, so far, no one has been arrested twice. Given the local population attendance, they’re going to have to double up soon.

Here are the 5 names listed thus far for June 10th by WCS below. When more are posted I will update.

Records at WakeMugs.com had the mug shots for 4 of the 5 up:

Woolford
Turner
Woogon
Amos

As if Moral Monday’s weren’t enough, we now also had a ‘Witness Wednesday’ this week. I was actually nearby when they started to form their group, having just attended the Stop Common Core event — where we talked to dozens of legislators like adults and resulted in zero arrests. Go figure.

Well Witless Witness Wednesday had a ‘handful’ of arrests too. WCS only has one name up right now:

This was supposed to be a protest commemorating the assassination of Medgar Evers yet it was turned into some kind of social justice circus by the NAACP and the AFL-CIO. WRAL falls all over itself to report:

Raleigh, N.C. — After weeks of Monday protests in which dozens of people were arrested at the General Assembly, a Wednesday afternoon protest ended with only eight people taken away by police.

The “Witness Wednesday” event coincided with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of NAACP activist Medgar Evers outside his Jackson, Miss., home.

The North Carolina chapter of the NAACP led the protest, which included the same criticism of Republican-backed legislation, from slashing unemployment benefits to using state money to provide vouchers for some students to attend private schools, that has marked the weekly “Moral Monday” protests.

“The Holy Scriptures declare that, when we stand for righteousness, when we heed the call to do what is right, we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses of those who died – or suffered and died – who have gone on but now sit in glory, and they cheer us on,” said Rev. William Barber, state NAACP president.

“It is the great witness of those who died before us and who fought before us that is the ultimate critique on the immoral and extreme legislation coming out of this General Assembly and out of the Governor’s Office,” Barber said. “When you attack poor people, when you attack voting rights, when you attack the most vulnerable, that’s wrong. Their blood speaks.”

Dear Rev. Barber: Give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and what is God’s to God. Do not confuse the two. Continue reading

@WRAL Beclowns Itself In Debunk Attempt of #MoralMonday Attendance

WRAL is nearly falling over itself to rush to the aid of the NAACP and Moral Mondays:

Of the 388 people who have been arrested over those six weeks, arrest records indicate only eight – or 2 percent – are from out of state. While not all who come to the rallies get arrested, the records provide the best verifiable snapshot into the makeup of the protesters. (link)

Wow WRAL. Hacktastic! By their logic, because only two people from out of state were arrested at the June 3rd event, it then follows no significant number of out of state people were possibly there. That giant jump in attendance from a few hundred to over 1,000 was just momentum…after being off for two weeks. Right, sure.

Except it wasn’t. Continue reading
