@NewsObserver Pens Cherry Picking, Outlandish Op-Ed Attacking Common Core Opposition
Media bias is so fun, especially from an anonymously penned Op-ed the News and Obscurer Observer. The media in NC is no friend to those opposing Common Core. At every public forum, you’re going to get a few speakers who are not representative of the whole, however their concerns shouldn’t be cherry-picked and mocked as they are in this Op-Ed. Right now, N&O has this smear job nonsense up:
Common Core opponents hurt their credibility with outlandish claims
It opens with:
Really? The Common Core State Standards for public schools will lead children and the nation toward communism? The standards promote abortion and feminism?
Go ahead, read the rest. It’s short, but my response won’t be. Continue reading

How many of you missed the news blip Ben Jealous left the NAACP to go be a Venture Capitalist?
He declined to specify his new salary but said it was about the same as it was at the NAACP — $285,000 in 2011, according to tax forms.
When he announced his departure from the organization in September 2013, Jealous said he planned to pursue university teaching and spend time with his young family. But Jealous says the opportunity to work with Kapor Capital was just too tempting, putting him on the cutting edge of helping people who are slipping further behind as the national economy grows. – CNS Continue reading

Letter to Wake Schools Superintendent – Partial Reply
Yesterday I wrote to the Wake County Superintendent, Jim Merrill, about some questions I had with the new budget. You can read the letter here: Letter To Wake Cty Superintendent. I received a reply back from Stella Shelton, interim Chief Communications Officer.
Here is what was received (below). Note that text in blue is Ms. Shelton’s. Text in Black represents my original emailed text. I’ve got a few comments about this reply at the end of this article. Continue reading

@WRAL Doubles Down On Bashing Common Core Opposition
Yesterday, I pointed out the remarkable attempt at spin and shuttuppery by WRAL on the Common Core public comment that went on at the NC General Assembly: What @WRAL Doesn’t Tell You: Two Thirds Spoke In Opposition to Common Core
WRAL picked the one speaker who showed up with an over-sized Bible to use as their graphic to represent those speaking in opposition to Common Core. This is your local media, people. Go leave them a comment.
Today, they’ve doubled down. Here’s a screenshot of that same story now: Continue reading
What @WRAL Doesn’t Tell You: Two Thirds Spoke In Opposition to Common Core
There’s a gap in the media coverage on the Common Core hearing held today at the NC General Assembly:
MT @LadyLiberty1885: Public rips #CommonCore — 2/3 opposed, @WRAL reports more on who likes it. http://t.co/vFq74QQenq #stopcommoncore
— Pete Kaliner (@PeteKaliner) March 20, 2014
WRAL did a bang up job taking the bulk of quotes from the minority, but well funded, side of the house. Continue reading
Iredell-Stateville Schools Won’t Answer On pro-Core Petition
When confronted on Twitter about a pro-Common Core petition put up on Change.org, the Iredell-Statesville schools account refused to answer the questions posed and then deleted their tweets to me.
Well, screenshot are forever Iredell-Statesville Schools. Continue reading
