Civitas Expands ‘Mapping The Left’ To Include Education

MAPPING THE LEFT

MAPPING THE LEFT

Those following this blog know I have been chronicling the Left in North Carolina for years.

In the last few years, I’ve been watching Leftist led organizations infiltrate education.

Civitas has also caught onto this trend and has begun to incorporate education into their Mapping The Left project.

Go read Susan Myrick’s latest articleMTL: How Students Are Indoctrinated by the Progressive Machine.  She picks up on several items I’ve covered quite a bit on this blog like the Youth Organizing Institute, Southern Vision Alliance, NC HEAT and Elena Everett.

NCGA Senator Violated Campaign Law. Where is the NC NAACP Screaming About Voter Suppression?

So, a NC state Senator apparently violated election law this campaign cycle.

Where is the NC NAACP/Moral Monday? Why aren’t they holding a press conference and screaming ‘voter suppression?

The News and Observer says this is what happened:

The State Board of Elections took action against state Sen. Angela Bryant, D-Nash, over fliers distributed by her campaign during the early voting period before Tuesday’s primaries, a board official said Thursday.

After an inquiry, the board identified legal issues with the fliers and required Bryant to sign a “Statement of Understanding” March 8, acknowledging that she understood the relevant laws about election materials.

The board also required Bryant to take out an ad in The Wilson Times. The ad, headlined “Paid for by the Committee to Elect Angela Bryant,” said fliers were distributed by the committee “in error” and said the issue had been corrected.

The fliers included the words “Keep Senator Angela Bryant” and information about her. They also showed an image of a ballot with ovals colored in for certain candidates, including Bryant.

Oh. It’s Senator Angela Bryant — a female, African American Senator.

Selective OutrageNow we know why there is no press conference thundering on about voter suppression. Had this been a Republican, we’d have wall to wall coverage of this flier.

The News and Observer says that the “African-American Caucus of the N.C. Democratic Party” filed a complaint. I’ve obtained a copy of the complaint letter and fake ballot flier mentioned.

NC Voter Turnout Is Big, Moral Monday Still Claims Voter Suppression

The NC Primary Turnout was big this year, but the Moral Monday crowd still is screaming voter suppression.

2016 Turnout: 35% (2,300,955 out of 6,511,143)
2016 Turnout: 35% (2,182,675 out of 6,296,759)

Snippet from the long and rather error riddled NCNAACP press release:

Long Lines, Confusion in North Carolina Show Impact of Voter Suppression Law
Early Voting Lines Lasted Hours, Election Day Hotline Flooded With Calls

RALEIGH – Yesterday, and during a condensed early voting period, voters attempting to participate in this year’s North Carolina primary election confronted long lines and confusion at the polls. While early turnout surpassed recent records, voters had fewer days to cast a ballot due to the elimination of a week of early voting under the state’s monster voter suppression law, H.B. 589. At congested polling sites, voters in Wake County confronted lines lasting hours as they waited to cast a ballot within the shortened period. Yesterday, voters at the First Alliance Church in Winston-Salem stood in lines over 1 hour and 45 mins. Durham voters at the Ivy Community Center waited in lines stretching the length of the exterior.

Every single tweet and news report I saw showed no long lines and no congestion. Kind of like this one:

The two churches in question above are known Moral Monday hubs. I wouldn’t put it past the NC NAACP to have urged voters to wait to the last minute and flood those sites. That’s how they roll.

Despite the shortened number of days, the amount of hours for early voting are the same. Everyone had an opportunity to miss potential long lines had they taken advantage of early voting.

Here’s the hilarious part of the press release:

“We are seeing in North Carolina the exact type of electoral chaos that happens when politicians manipulate the voting system for their own gain,” said Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, president of the North Carolina State Conference of the NAACP. “Our leaders should be in the business of making it easier to vote, not harder. The right to vote should be constitutional, not confusing.”

Electoral chaos?

Oh, you mean like throwing our primary into chaos with am NC NAACP tied lawsuit that forced districts to be redrawn?

The kind of chaos like voter disenfranchisement of early voting and absentee ballots that stems from that map redrawing?

That kind of chaos?  My God. THE STUPID.

Ultimate Insult

Pittman Wins #NC82 Despite Cabarrus Jobs Now Ad Buys

Despite the massive ad buys and disgusting mailers put out by Cabarrus Jobs Now, Rep. Larry Pittman beat his primary opponent this week.

NC House 82
Larry Pittman     5,608 (52.77%)
Michael Fischer  5,019 (47.23%)

It was arguably close, but Pittman pulled it out.

Cabarrus Jobs Now wasn’t the only organization throwing money up against Pittman though. Another outfit, Cabarrus Patriot Alliance, spent some cash on the race too.

According to campaign finance documents at the Cabarrus Board of Elections, CJN paid over $6,291 for media items in the past.

It appears that in early 2016,  CJN paid over $64,000 for this attack ad on Pittman.  It was $64,812 to be exact.

Cabarrus Jobs Now received three checks from January to February 2016 from Cabarrus Patriot Alliance that totaled $98,000.

Overall, it looks like over $150,000 was spent trying to take down Pittman.

Both CJN and CPA are creations of Frank Rankin, according to the NC Secretary of State.

March 15th, 2016 GOP Primary Results

Christie StareDonald Trump won all states in play last night except Ohio, where Governor John Kasich pulled off winning his home state. That’s important since Ohio’s a winner take all state and has 66 delegates.

Rubio did not win his home state of Florida and was a distant second to Trump.

Just a week ago, Rubio said, “I believe with all my heart that the winner of the Florida primary next Tuesday will be the nominee of the Republican Party.”

Looks like the Nominee is going to be Trump then.

Rubio also suspended his campaign last night.

While I am a Cruz supporter and not a fan of Rubio’s involvement with the Gang of 8, let me say that it does not make me happy in the least to see Rubio lose Florida.  I firmly believe that either Cruz or Rubio would be far better choices than Trump.

The March 15th GOP Primary results via DecisionDeskHQ, bear in mind some of these race numbers not 100% final or official yet. Note that the NC results are pulled from the NC State Board of Elections website.
