I’ve received a barrage of emails, Facebook messages, and calls about Education Secretary DeVos’ recent speech where she made a claim that Common Core was “dead.”

It is not dead. Nor will it be until the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is dead.

Governor Who Vetoed State Budget ‘Disappointed’ in #SchumerShutdown

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper was ‘disappointed’ in Congress for not meeting the “very basic obligation of funding the government.”

Yet he vetoed meeting the very basic obligation of funding the North Carolina government last year.

NC Middle School Teacher Sentenced to 8 Months for Soliciting Sex from Student

Warrant Issued for Cabarrus Charter Upper School Teacher

According to Cabarrus police, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Cabarrus Charter Upper School teacher.

Authorities are looking for Helena Hunter, who is a special education reading teacher in connection with footage of the teacher kicking a special needs student on December 4, 2017.

Here We Go Again On Confederate Monuments

Here we go again with the Confederate monument removal business.

“Committee in place to examine Cooper’s Confederate monument request ”

The state Historical Commission announced Friday its five members to serve on the committee to study what actions the full commission can take. The committee’s first meeting is Jan. 22. It’s supposed to report to the full commission in April.

Most of us had forgotten that Governor Ray had requested the removal of three monuments.  These statues have stood on the Capitol grounds in Raleigh for a combined 330 years.
