Wake County assistant principal arrested for DWI

A Wake County Public Schools assistant principal has been arrested for DWI.

Janel Alford, age 42, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired on Nov. 8 in the area of 2000 Cameron street in Raleigh.

Records show that in 2017 Alford was also cited for failing to heed a light or siren and for having an expired vehicle registration/tag.

Alford is an assistant principal at Stough Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh. Before coming to Stough in 2013, Alford worked at Lincoln Heights Magnet Elementary.

State records show Alford has an active teaching license in the areas of School Administrator: Principal and Elementary Education (K-6). Her license is valid until June 2021.

Alford is the 55th teacher arrest tracked by this website since the start of 2019.
