WCPSS Hires Single “Office Of Equity Affairs” Staff For $125k
Wake County Public Schools has hired someone for the new “Office of Equity Affairs”.
You read that correctly, “Office of Equity Affairs”.
The office’s budget is an annual $204,846, The title of the role there is Assistant Superintendent and is being filled by Rodney Trice with a base salary being $125,000. Let’s think about the optics here:
Teachers haven’t seen their raises yet.
The Wake County School Board, along with Superintendent Merrill, want to hike taxes to pay for their own county’s teacher raises.
Let’s keep a social justice office on the books and pay someone 125k to run it while a lawsuit related to said office is ongoing in Wake County. Coincidence I’m sure.

PolicyWatch Finally Writing on Common Core…
NC PolicyWatch (the blog mouthpiece of NC Justice Center/BlueprintNC etc) has picked at writing on Common Core over the last few months. They desperately want to jump on the the heads of the Republicans at the NCGA, yet the fundamental flaws with Common Core may have the writers over there taking pause at doing so just yet.
They do have an article up right now by Matt Ellinwood called, Diverse organizations support Common Core as N.C. and other states back away. Besides being written from a 30,000 feet view. It’s got a few important things wrong with it. I attempted to leave the following comment below, but I couldn’t tell if their site took it or not. Read the piece first, it’s short.
My response: Continue reading

Institute For Southern Studies Contortionist Act on Voter Fraud
There can’t possibly be voter fraud, even when faced with proof of voter fraud. This is the position of Institute for Southern Studies and they are sticking to it as they rely on Democracy NC’s Bob Hall as the leading authority:
Are four NC lawmakers really committing voter fraud?
Four North Carolina state lawmakers could be targets of criminal investigations for voter fraud based on controversial standards embraced by some of their own colleagues.
Today Democracy North Carolina, a voting rights watchdog group, released findings that show someone with exactly the same first name, last name, and date of birth as each of the lawmakers is registered to vote in another state. The registrants’ middle names and middle initials also correspond.
Earlier this year, the State Board of Elections released a report that identified 35,750 North Carolina voters whose first name, last name and date of birth matched registered voters in other states. Some state lawmakers and conservative activists claimed that was proof voter fraud was occurring — a claim that voting rights advocates challenged.
“These legislators are innocent” of fraud, Democracy North Carolina Executive Director Bob Hall said at a press conference today outside the Board of Elections offices where he announced his group’s findings. “This is the problem with using mass sets of data and drawing conclusions about voter fraud.”

Hypocritical Beclownment complete.
You all remember Bob Hall, right? The “non-partisan advocate for clean elections”? That same Bob Hall and “non-partisan” who testified in front of the NC General Assembly and then turned around and whipped up the crowd at Moral Monday. Video here. Continue reading

Injunction On NC Opportunity Scholarships Lifted
In case you missed it, yesterday the injunction on the NC Opportunity Scholarships program imposed by Superior Court Judge Robert Hobgood was lifted. Low-income families now have an opportunity to send their children to private schools. The Opportunity Scholarships program had a base amount to start with of $10 million, which would only cover 2,400 of students to start. It’s worth noting that the program is so popular, they had to hold a lottery. Not everyone thinks assisting low-income students is the right thing to do. For example, the NC Association of Educators (NCAE):
“We feel that the program is not only unconstitutional but is also a reckless use of money,” – Mark Jewell NC Association of Educators via News and Observer 5/14/15
Wait..Serving low-income students is a reckless use of money? Gee, tell me more about how your serving the best interest of the NCAE children? Continue reading

Wake Schools Grading Participation Trophies
Here comes the participation trophy in Wake County schools for academics. So much for “higher standards”? More like softening the blow for the next wave of disastrous end of course scores and year and grades.
The Wake County School board, famous for their infighting and busing for “socioeconomic diversity” debacle, now are leaving it up to individual schools in Wake county to decide if kids who don’t do their work should get bad grades. No, I’m not kidding.
So who is behind this push? Two far Left racial and social justice activists tied to both Moral Monday and Blueprint NC. Continue reading
