It Started With A Tweet About The #NCDEMS

I received an email from George Fisher this morning in my inbox. The email pointed me at a tweet:

That tweet referenced at Facebook post from Mr. Fisher that read:

Things to consider as Democrats:

As we embrace HKonJ and also Valentine’s Day: let’s not forget that one of the first things the new leader of the North Carolina Democratic Party did in her official capacity was to fire a single mother with two children and a pregnant woman. ‪#‎newNCDP‬ ‪#‎ncpol‬ ‪#‎gotyourback‬

Oh my. War on Women?

“But she is informed, super-savvy, and driven by her love for her children.”

Common Core supporters don’t get what is driving the Common Core backlash.

American Principles Project’s Ed Director, Emmett McGroarty, totally gets it. Continue reading

CCSSO President’s Homeschool Tweet Sees Backlash

In yesterday’s article, CCSSO President Questions Testing For Homeschoolers, the question was posed by Dr. Atkinson that perhaps homeschoolers and private schooled children should be taking the same tests as public school children.

Here’s the original tweet:

With choice, should homeschool & private school students have to take the same tests as public school students? If no, why not? #HLR2015

— June Atkinson (@DrJuneAtkinson) January 12, 2015

This question has led to some backlash.
Better watch it, ya’ll. You might be accused of bearing false witness.

CCSSO President Questions Testing For Homeschoolers

Yesterday, I reported on the Holshouser Legislators Retreat 2015. This was an invitation only event with various NC educrats, legislators, “non-profits” and businesses discussing your child’s education future without you – again.

One tweet I left out of the previous story was from the President of the Council of Chief State School Officers. Folks in North Carolina know her as the NC State Superintendent, June Atkinson.

Dr. Atkinson tweeted this question out at the Holhouser event:

Fitzsimon Beclowns Himself On #NCSPIN Over #APUSH

How many false statements, tea party smears and general bile can one fit into 1 minute and 23 seconds?

Watch @Fitzsimon make an ass of himself on #APUSH with a fountain of smears and rhetoric. http://t.co/SKgFYBQJU2 #nced #ncpol

— LL1885 – A.P. Dillon (@LadyLiberty1885) December 16, 2014

It’s clear from the moment he opens his mouth, Fitzsimon knows NOTHING about APUSH. Reminds me of the type of crap News and Observer put out on APUSH. Alternatively, Fitzsimon does know APUSH is seeing a radical, leftist swing which is why he politicized criticism of it to death in less than a minute.

A Tweet About NC’s Civics and Economics

A tweet from NC’s Superintendent, who is also President Elect of the CCSSO, caught my eye the other morning.

@DianeRavitch Your facts about NC Civics & Econ are incorrect. C&E standards adopted in 2010 & went into effect 2012. Multiple resources

— June Atkinson (@DrJuneAtkinson) December 8, 2014

The tweet from Atkinson is a reply to a story on Mississippi, which doesn’t discuss North Carolina whatsoever. Atkinson has proven to be twitter challenged, so I checked Ravitch’s latest tagged articles for North Carolina.

I thought the Atkinson tweet was a response to the article Ravitch did covering Atkinson’s latest machinations dealing with the hotly contested new APUSH framework (AP US History), but there adoption date of NC’s civics isn’t covered there or in the related article where Ravitch basically re-prints the News and Observer’s smear job. It would appear Atkinson’s tweet is a non-sequitor protestation of something Ravitch never said? YEP. Gee…Our schools are in the best of hands.
