Alamance County Dem’s #WarOnWomen?

Here at Lady Liberty 1885, we get all kinds of comments. Some supportive, some constructive, some humorous and then we have the rather vile and nasty.

I’ve been sitting on writing about a set of comments for a while now made by one individual, I don’t really believe in exposing personal information about people who comment here. Having said that, this person needs exposing.

I’ve been called a “teabilly” and an “asshole” by none other than Democrat William Franklin, current parlimentarian for the North Carolina Senior Democrats, long time member of the Alamance Democrat Party and was 2nd Vice Chair for Alamance in 2012. Franklin is also a member of the Democrat State Executive Committee (SEC). You might remember him sticking up for David Parker during that messy sexual harassment scandal — read Franklin’s SEC letter defending Parker here. Note at the bottom, the email address matches the comments made here at LL1885 blog:

Bill Franklin
SEC Member, Alamance County
2nd Vice Chair, 6th Democratic Congressional District

So, after a sexual harassment scandal hits his party not so long ago, Franklin’s moved on to a war on women bloggers? How fitting.

Occupy Monday Sit-In Arrestees Not Allowed Back

The 14 people arrested at the first Occupy Monday at the NC General Assembly are not going to be allowed back into the legislature building until after July 11th. The press and the NC NAACP keep calling this group the “Tillis 15”, but only 14 were arrested. Is Barber is counting himself as the 15th or is he doing Common Core math?

According to documents held by Wake County Clerk of Superior Court, the 15 fast food workers and pastors who were arrested for nonviolent civil disobedience in Thom Tillis’s office earlier this week are not allowed back at the General Assembly until July 11th, after Moral Monday is over. As Predicted, Teacher Pay Raise Still Not Enough

We knew the NCAE would have a problem with a historic level of raises for teachers.

#NCAE: Treat us like professionals. #NCGA: Here’s a performance-based 4-yr contract + bonus. #NCAE: ……. You hate teachers! #NCpol

State Superintendent and CCSSO President-elect, Dr. Atkinson throws in her two cents. Yes, it’s not enough for her either. Apparently, not enough blood came out of the stone. A $5,309 average raise is just not enough — Atkinson wants MOAR! Everything should be fixed all at once… but the real axe being ground here is that the Dept. of Public Instruction (DPI) is going to get slashed by 30%.
GOOD — now that is something long overdue for a department that wields far too much power and has added pricey staff at an alarming rate.
