On June 12th, Omar Mateen launched an attack on The Pulse night club in Orlando.
Fifty people lost their lives that night and witnesses heard Mateen shout, ‘Allahu Akbar’ and it was learned that Mateen had pledged his allegiance to ISIS. Yet at the time, North Carolina elected officials and media personalities rushed to judgement. Continue reading
An ethics complaint has been filed against North Carolina state house Representative Chris Sgro. The complaint was filed by Napier Fuller, a resident of Wilmington, North Carolina.
The complaint alleges that Sgro, “remains the executive director of Equality NC, and continues to be actively engaged in lobbying for Equity NC via his new role as a member of the NCGA.”. Continue reading
Equality NC Director/ Rep. Chris Sgro was unhappy with adjournment being called and that the other 75 representatives in attendance voted to adjourn:
20 of us voted against adjournment, since we didn’t solve the biggest problem in the state by #RepealHB2#ncga#ncpol

The announcement of two new appointees to the NC State Board of Education sort of flew under the radar yesterday, eclipsed by the NBA/NCGA antics on HB2.
Senate Joint Resolution 902 created confirmation of two appointments to the NC State Board of Education by the Governor. The resolution names the appointees:
“The appointments of James Todd Chasteen and Amy Bannister White to membership on the State Board of Education for terms to expire March 31, 2023, are confirmed.”
The Resolution passed, 110-1.
The lone “No” vote was Rep. Chris Sgro. Continue reading
A proposed bill was leaked to WBTV news today that would significantly change HB 2.
The reporter on the story is Nick Oschner. One may recall his ambush video of Speaker Tim Moore over his unitemized credit card charges. It was a bizarre story with weird twists and turns. House leadership were told to avoid him. Apparently they didn’t listen.
The WBTV article cites a ‘anonymous source’ handing over the bill and that ‘General Assembly leadership’ have apparently been meeting with the NBA with regards to this bill.
Wait, what? Continue reading
Islamic terrorism struck the LGBT community in Orlando and it was devastating. Vigils are appropriate. What’s not appropriate is using a vigil for those murdered to further your social justice and political agendas.
Such is the case with Equality NC sending out an email tying a vigil to slamming the legislature on HB2. Shame on them.
So, yet again, we find Director Sgro organizing a vigil protest against the very place he was appointed to serve as Representative Sgro. It’s like watching Two-Face flip his coin, and ask am I a representative today or an activist? Continue reading
