MoMo Using ‘Youth Initiative’ Again – #NCpol #BlueprintNC

Despite a recent defeat in court, Moral Monday (MoMo) seems to be stuck on the same ‘voting rights’ tune and plan to use their ‘youth initiative’ to promote their cause.

Hey, Associated Press? @WRAL? You Missed A Mug Shot

WRAL has an article about the recent changes to the North Carolina voter ID law. The star of their story is one Charise Dill who claims to be ‘disenfranchised’. Let’s look at that the claimant.

WRAL missed kind of a big piece of information… Continue reading

So Yesterday, The #NCGA Gutted VoterID…

Apparently, sometime yesterday, the NC General Assembly managed to screw up an issue they had the vast majority of citizens backing: Voter ID.

Legislators decided a last minute affidavit signed at the polls is just fine. Photo ID is no biggie. Really? Continue reading

#NCDEMS Defacto Leader Still Arguing Minorities Too Dumb To Get I.D.

Yesterday in North Carolina, an appeal was heard regarding North Carolina’s voting law changes (VIVA).

Tales from the front lines: Federal trial today in Charlotte. http://t.co/XlJLNHQ6dm @LadyLiberty1885 @sistertoldjah @NCPlottHound #ncpol

From the VIP linked article above, emphasis mine:

“Semantics aside, the real issue boiled down to a term known as “irreparable harm.” The plaintiffs argued that if this election law remains in force for the November elections, then people will be irreparably harmed. And since those people would disproportionately be the poor and the minority community, they further reason, this law is discriminatory under Section 2 of the US Civil Rights Act.

Their biggest problem is that silly concept known as, “burden of proof.” Other than with a hypothetical situation about an old lady who cannot vote at the precinct next door to her and instead has to get a ride to a precinct that’s a mile or two away. Judge Wynn conceded that a situation like that is perfectly normal for school assignments, but insisted it was improper for voting purposes.”

Moral Monday and Defacto NC Dem Leader, Reverend Barber, is still making the case minorities are being discriminated against by having to show identification. Translated: Minorities are either too dumb or too lazy to get and maintain identification.

College Kids And Voter ID

On the comments of the last time voter ID was brought up on this blog, college kids were brought into the mix. It was a useful question which is often used by opponents of voter ID, so I’m going to cover it.

The specific question was:

“why are college students prevented from using their STATE issued college IDs?”

I responded: Continue reading

Institute For Southern Studies Contortionist Act on Voter Fraud

There can’t possibly be voter fraud, even when faced with proof of voter fraud. This is the position of Institute for Southern Studies and they are sticking to it as they rely on Democracy NC’s Bob Hall as the leading authority:
Are four NC lawmakers really committing voter fraud?

Four North Carolina state lawmakers could be targets of criminal investigations for voter fraud based on controversial standards embraced by some of their own colleagues.

Today Democracy North Carolina, a voting rights watchdog group, released findings that show someone with exactly the same first name, last name, and date of birth as each of the lawmakers is registered to vote in another state. The registrants’ middle names and middle initials also correspond.

Earlier this year, the State Board of Elections released a report that identified 35,750 North Carolina voters whose first name, last name and date of birth matched registered voters in other states. Some state lawmakers and conservative activists claimed that was proof voter fraud was occurring — a claim that voting rights advocates challenged.

“These legislators are innocent” of fraud, Democracy North Carolina Executive Director Bob Hall said at a press conference today outside the Board of Elections offices where he announced his group’s findings. “This is the problem with using mass sets of data and drawing conclusions about voter fraud.”

Hypocritical Beclownment complete.

You all remember Bob Hall, right? The “non-partisan advocate for clean elections”? That same Bob Hall and “non-partisan” who testified in front of the NC General Assembly and then turned around and whipped up the crowd at Moral Monday. Video here. Continue reading
