Sen. Barefoot Receives Key Education Related Appointments
Senator Barefoot has received some top education appointments for the upcoming session, Chairman of the Senate Education Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the newly created Workforce and Economic Development Committee.
Sen. Barefoot served on the Common Core LRC committee in 2013 and authored SB 815, Ensuring Privacy of Student Records, which was signed into law in 2013.

NC #ASRC Handout has Author Missing
In going over the December meeting materials from the Common Core Academic Standards Review Commission (ASRC), there was one handout that was missing any notation of who the author was.
This handout had a header on it that said, “Legislatively Required Standards Review Process in Other States”. A closer inspection of the original document’s properties showed it was authored by Michael Gilligan.

Wake Voters Need To Pay Attention
Southwest Wake voters will need to pay attention as we advance into 2015. Elections for various local positions need to be on voters radar. Cary, Apex, Fuquay Varina, Morrisville and Holly Springs all have Town Council elections coming up.
