Injunction On NC Opportunity Scholarships Lifted
In case you missed it, yesterday the injunction on the NC Opportunity Scholarships program imposed by Superior Court Judge Robert Hobgood was lifted. Low-income families now have an opportunity to send their children to private schools. The Opportunity Scholarships program had a base amount to start with of $10 million, which would only cover 2,400 of students to start. It’s worth noting that the program is so popular, they had to hold a lottery. Not everyone thinks assisting low-income students is the right thing to do. For example, the NC Association of Educators (NCAE):
“We feel that the program is not only unconstitutional but is also a reckless use of money,” – Mark Jewell NC Association of Educators via News and Observer 5/14/15
Wait..Serving low-income students is a reckless use of money? Gee, tell me more about how your serving the best interest of the NCAE children? Continue reading

Wake Schools Grading Participation Trophies
Here comes the participation trophy in Wake County schools for academics. So much for “higher standards”? More like softening the blow for the next wave of disastrous end of course scores and year and grades.
The Wake County School board, famous for their infighting and busing for “socioeconomic diversity” debacle, now are leaving it up to individual schools in Wake county to decide if kids who don’t do their work should get bad grades. No, I’m not kidding.
So who is behind this push? Two far Left racial and social justice activists tied to both Moral Monday and Blueprint NC. Continue reading

@NCAE To Join Occupy Monday’s “Day of Action”
Just what does the NCAE do with teacher dues? Join ‘days of action’ with far Left groups who get media attention by getting arrested maybe? This letter from the NCAE below looks like political activity, not teacher advocacy. In fact, that’s exactly what it is only Larry calls it “education activism”.
Workshops and skills training? Like what? Chanting and holding signs? Learning how to alienate more and more parents with vitriolic antics?
Hey, at least this time they aren’t pulling a day of action in our schools right? Shocked they sent this instead of their protest arm, Organize2020. Continue reading

UNCW Takes Another Stab At Teacher Pay Survey
Remember that skewed, unscientific “survey” from UNCW? Well, if at first you don’t succeed with your push poll survey, try and try again. This time, the NCAE is pushing it. This one is clearly geared towards teachers, judging by the questions. It’s distribution method is about as sound as the first one by Imig and Smith.
The image below is via Facebook, which is of course where scientific surveys start, right? Continue reading
