NC State Board Of Ed Meeting Slated for August 3-4
The next North Carolina State Board of Education (NCSBE) meeting is slated for August third and fourth. The agenda for the upcoming meeting can be found on the NCSBE website under the ‘meetings’ tab.
The NCSBE meetings are live streamed for those who cannot attend in person. Whose wishing to listen in will need to download RealPlayer if they do not already have it on their device.
Nowhere in the two-day agenda is the revision of Common Core math for High school or Elementary and middle school grades mentioned.

11 New Charter Schools Await Board Approval in North Carolina
Eleven new charters schools have been recommended for approval by the state’s board of education per a bulletin from the NC Department of Public Instruction. Once approved, the number of charter schools in North Carolina will rise to 168.

NCGA Bill Refines Language For Charter School Renewal, Closures
A bill making quite a few changes to how Charter schools operate in North Carolina will be sent to the Governor for signature.
House Bill 242 changes some language and criteria regarding the renewal of charter schools. The old language was stricken and new sections were added that clarify the process. Much of the language is the same, but appears to be reorganized. Continue reading

Cleveland County Charter Schools Score Big Win In NC Court
Charter schools in Cleveland county scored a big win in court this week as a judge ruled the district needed to turn over funding of $55,000.

#WCPSS School Board Ticked Off School Choice Is Booming
Another day, another set of echo chamber remarks from the “equity” obsessed Wake County School Board.
At the Wake Board’s recent retreat, the board was ticked off that school choice, in the form of Charter schools, is booming in the district. Instead of asking why, their response was to sling insults at charter schools and by proxy, parents choosing charters for their children. Continue reading
