EXCLUSIVE: University of New Mexico ISIS Panel Attendee Speaks Out
The video of an alleged “Pro-ISIS panel at UNM” has sparked more than a few fires since it went viral online. I had a few questions of my own regarding the entire incident that took place on April 1st.
After my article ISIS Panel at University of New Mexico was published, I did get some partial answers.
One of the questions from my article was about 45 minutes of video missing from the UNM Muslim Student Associations panel on ISIS.

NC ASRC Member Asks If Common Core Needs ‘Overhaul’. Answer Received Cheers and Applause. (Video)
Local media reported that testimony given by former Common Core Validation committee members before the NC Common Core Academic Standards Review Commission indicated that a ‘total rewrite’ was necessary.
As I noted earlier this week, that’s not quite what was said — you can’t simply ‘re-write’ the Common Core. To reinforce what was actually said, I’ve put together a clip from video taken at the meeting.

NC Chamber Letter Passed To ASRC By Professional Lobbyist
In case you missed it this week, The NC Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to the Co-Chairs of the Common Core Academic Standards Review Commission pushing for a Florida-like rebrand.
Co-Chair Tammy Covil replied, which prompted the NC Chamber’s Gary Salamido to play the game of trying to get the last word in by sending another letter. The second letter was a case study in condescending tunnel-vision.
Well, I took a look at the FOIA for the first letter again. It was not sent directly by Gary Salamido, but instead by a professional lobbyist name Andrew Meehan.

#AmplifyChoice: 1 Mom, Multiple Choices
A few weeks ago, the Amplify Choice conference took place in Washington, D.C. with the aim of looking at the topic of Charter schools. Participants at the conference took a look at two D.C. schools and I delved into Charter schools in my home state of North Carolina.
A pervasive theme of the conference was the idea that school choice can mean a great number of things. Charter schools, private schools, virtual schools and homeschooling all were mentioned as top choices for parents.
In a nutshell, School Choice is ‘Multiple Choice’. Continue reading

#AmplifyChoice: Dr. Terry Stoops On NC Charter Schools
Last week I attended a school choice conference in Washington, D.C. called Amplify Choice. That conference focused mainly on Charter schools. Earlier this week, I took a look at the similarities and differences in two D.C. schools; Archbishop Carroll High and Achievement Prep Charter.
Today, I’ll be covering some more from the Amplify Choice event as it relates to North Carolina, including an interview with Dr. Terry Stoops, Director of Education Studies at the John Locke Foundation.

Who Is Driving Education Policy In NC?
Last year, I called attention to a group called the NC Superintendent Large District Consortium and their intention to call for a seven-year lock in of Common Core in the state.
I’ve kept tabs and have questions about who is driving education policy in the state of North Carolina.
I placed a Freedom of Information Act request last September and have just recently received the information back from Wake County Public Schools. I requested emails that had “NC Superintendent Large District Consortium” and “Common Core” in the subject or body of the emails.
