NCGOP To Cabarrus: Rescind Resolution

Encouraging people to swap parties to steer a primary, Democrats dressed up like Republicans — or in some cases “DemoPublicanRepubliCrats” — these are a few of the examples of the mess out in Cabarrus county. The Cabarrus Republican party had had enough and put a resolution out denouncing two candidates and the various tactics being employed. A few days later, the NC GOP told Cabarrus to rescind that resolution claiming it violated party rules.
I reached out to the NC GOP. Here is the statement from Executive Director Todd Poole about it (below). Poole also clarified that the NC GOP ‘received no complaints from any state reps or state elected officials’. about the Cabarrus resolution. Continue reading

About Those Candidate Background Checks…

News and Record did some background checks on some local candidates running for the NC General Assembly. The candidate name, district and offense were listed. Party affiliation was not. I went ahead and ran that down via the NC Board of Elections. It was kind of a no-brainer since at least 4 of them were running for Alma Adams seat, but hey — let’s play along.

Democrats are putting up such quality candidates these days…must be that quality recruiting. Felonies, misdemeanors, prison time… wow. Continue reading

Cabarrus Conservative Alliance Backs Cabarrus GOP Resolution

On Saturday, April 26th, I reported that the Cabarrus Republican party had issued a resolution condemning two candidates. One was Leigh Brown, who is challenging Rep. Larry Pittman for his seat at the NC General Assembly. The other is Diane Honeycutt, running for County Commissioner.

On April 27th, the Cabarrus Conservative Alliance came out backing the Cabarrus Republican party’s resolution in an open letter to voters. Continue reading

NC Supreme Court Races: Associate Justice Race PT 3

This Supreme Court Associate Justice race involves three candidates. The sitting Justice, Robin Hudson and two challengers. There will be a primary to narrow the field down to just two candidates. The race is non-partisan in nature, however Hudson, the incumbent, is a Democrat. Her challengers are Republican. In the first installment of the Associate Justice Race, we looked at challenger Jeanette Doran. The second article looked at Eric Levinson. Today we round out this race with a look at Robin Hudson.
