Parents and community members should be aware that today begins the filing period to run for the Wake County School Board. Anyone can and should run.
All nine seats are open. All nine seats can and should be challenged.
All you need to qualify to run is to be a Wake County resident and be filing to run in the district you live in based on your address. I’ve included a map below, but you can find the schools that fall under each district on the WCPSS board member page.
It costs $185.23 to file for this race and that fee can be paid by check, cashier’s check, or money order. Checks should be made out to the Wake County Board of Elections.
Here are the important dates:
- Monday, June 8, 2020 12:00 p.m. Candidate Filing Begins
- Tuesday, June 30, 2020 5:00 p.m. Deadline to Withdraw Notice of Candidacy Monday,
- July 6, 2020 12:00 p.m. Candidate Filing Ends
More information can be found on the Wake County government website.
Those interested should read the candidate filing information documentation.

What starts with Parents changes everything.
Taxpayers and parents alike have been treated to a front-row seat under the big-top of this circus and have had to foot the bill for this board’s remarkable ability to bust their billion-dollar budgets year over year.
Students have seen constant reassignments, all while the board pats themselves on the back at their monthly meeting for doling out social justice scoldings and virtue signaling on Twitter. What’s more, the emphasis on ‘feelings’ over actual academics and the invasion of the privacy of students and their families has increased at an alarming rate, as have the attacks charter schools and their families.
If you need a crash course in the malfeasance and incompetence of the current board, please peruse my extensive archives both by tag and by category.
Those parents who have attempted to engage by speaking out or standing up to this board have experienced retaliation that would have made Mussolini proud. Year after year, this board’s condescension is only topped by its arrogance and political machinations. And they are not done yet unless drop-kicks them out of power. FILE TO RUN.
