NC Governor Cooper’s State of the State Address
Yesterday evening was the first State of the State address for North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.
There was little in the way of remarks on the actual state of the state. There was also little new material other than a brief touch on opioid abuse in the Governor’s address. The bulk of the address contained much of the same rhetoric and the same promises he campaigned on. Continue reading

Gov. Cooper’s Budget: $1.1 billion in New Spending
Bob Luebke at Civitas broke down Governor Roy Cooper’s budget proposal and the price tag is hefty — $1.1 billion in new spending.
$783 million of that $1.1 billion is marked for education. $271 million will go to teacher raises and $20 million in principal and assistant principal increases. Continue reading
