A Holly Springs High School teacher has been charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Kevin Christopher Chamberlain, age 43, has been charged with six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Holly Springs High School is in the Wake County Public Schools district. Chamberlain is an English teacher at the school and has worked at the school since 2012.
A search warrant was executed at Chamberlain’s Fuquay-Varina home a little after five a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to police reports, the search warrant was carried out upon a request for assistance made by both the Cary Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security as part of an active child pornography investigation that started in November 2017.
Law enforcement confirms that child pornography was indeed seized from Chamberlain’s home as a result of the search.
Chamberlain is currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center. Wake County Sheriff’s Office records show a secured bond of $180,000 was issued
An email went out on Wednesday night to Holly Springs High School parents from Principal Brian Pittman.
“Today I was notified that an employee of our school, Mr. Chamberlain, has been arrested on charges related to child pornography,” wrote Pittman. “This employee has been suspended pending the completion of the criminal investigation and our own internal investigation.”
“At this time, we have no reason to believe the investigation involves any inappropriate conduct by the employee at school or with our students,” said Pittman in the email.
