Adrian Wayne Taylor had first been arrested on Feb. 8 of this year and was charged with three counts of felony second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was issued an unsecured bond of $75,000 per charge or $115,000 in total. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office inquiry tool did not list Taylor as an active inmate at the time his first arrest was reported.

Taylor was arrested again on Dec. 19 and is being held on a federal warrant at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.

A joint investigation of Taylor by the FBI and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police began on Nov. 24, 2021.

Taylor was apparently indicted last week on three counts tied to child pornography and the federal indictment document says he possessed images of “a minor who had not attained 12 years of age.”

According to charging documents, Taylor allegedly used a file-share program called BitTorrent to share images of a young girl“engaged in sexual activity.”

Taylor allegedly shared child pornography as early as Aug. 8, 2021, according to investigators. More pornography was shared by Taylor in November 2021.

On the day of his first arrest, Feb. 8, 2022, Taylor is accused of “knowingly possessing and accessing” with intent to view child pornography of minors younger than 12.

When Taylor was first arrested in February, he was a language arts teacher at Community House Middle School in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools System.

The principal of the school released a statement to families back in February about Taylor:

“Good afternoon, Community House families, This is Principal Slattery with an important message concerning our school. My goal is to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff at all times. It has come to my attention that criminal charges have been brought against one of our teachers. An active investigation is underway by law enforcement,. and CMS will cooperate fully with investigators. I take these matters very seriously and will be working with law enforcement to address them in a manner that ensures the well-being of all students and is in accordance with district policies. Please understand that we have been provided limited information at this time, but I will update you as soon as there is more information available. Thank you for your support of Community House Middle School.”

After his first arrest, the district said Taylor was placed on paid suspension. The district has not yet issued a statement on the second arrest.
