Cody Lee Eudy, age 28, was arrested on May 30 and charged with one count of second degree forcible sexual offense and one count of sexual activity with a student.

The second degree sex offense charge is a Class C felony carrying a sentence of 44 to 182 months in prison. The sexual activity charge is Class G felony with a sentence of 8 to 31 months in jail.

Eudy remains in the custody at the Stanly County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bond.

Eudy is a teacher at the “Tar Heel ChalleNGe Academy” in New London where he is accused of sexually assaulting a female cadet in her dorm room.

The academy’s mission is to “provide intervention and reclamation for 16-18-year-old high school dropouts, produce program graduates with the values, life skills, education, and self-discipline necessary to succeed as productive citizens.”

Additionally, the school’s website says that the “National Guard Youth ChallNGe Program (NGYCP) was established by the National Guard in 1993 to turn around the lives of young men and women between the ages of 16 and 18 who were experiencing difficulty in completing traditional high school.”

The school is partnered with several organizations, including the N.C. Department of Public instruction, N.C. Department of Public Safety, Sampson County Community College, and Stanly County Community College.

There is no teaching license on file for Eudy with the state of North Carolina and Eudy is the eighth non-public school employee arrest to be tracked by this website in 2021.
