A former employee of the Montessori School of Durham who was arrested in January in Arizona for the alleged molestation of a 5-year-old child has had more charges added to him in four other states.

Nathan Stuart Elder, age 44, is being charged by law enforcement agencies in Orange and Durham Counties. More charges in Wake County may follow as the investigation continues.
Elder is now facing 40 total counts of secretly peeping while using a photographic device and 7 counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
The Special Victims Unit of the Durham Police Department charged Nathan Elder with 33 counts of possession of images obtained in violation of secretly peeping while using a photographic device.
The Hillsborough Police Department charged Elder with 7 counts of indecent liberties with a minor and 7 counts of possession of images obtained in violation of secretly peeping while using a photographic device.
According to state statute, the peeping charges against Elder likely fall into the category of Class I Felonies.
An investigation began after Durham Police after someone called with a tip and indicated they were “concerned with his access to children.”
Law enforcement executed a search of Elder’s electronic devices and found 33 images that “violate North Carolina’s secret peeping laws.”
The alleged images include possible crimes in multiple counties beyond North Carolina including Baldwin County, Alabama; Alameda County, California; and Maricopa County in Arizona.
The case is still ongoing. If anyone has information on the case, the Durham Police Department ask for people to call 919-560-4440, extension 29349, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
