A Charlotte Independence High School JROTC Instructor has been arrested after accusations of sexual assault involving two students.

Bradley Gibson, age 52, was charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a minor and six counts of indecent liberties with a student.

Arrest records show that Gibson was given $630,000 bail. He was jailed on 9/19/2018 just before 11 pm.

A 15-year-old female student reported that Gibson sexually assaulted her this year on the Independence High School grounds and a second 17-year old female student alleges an assault by Gibson in 2010 according to law enforcement.

SMSgt Bradley Gibson: is beginning his 10th year as an AFJROTC instructor at Independence HS. He retired with 25 years as a Security Policeman. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service in Operations Enduring Freedom, Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operations Northern and Southern Watch. He also has 13 years experience as a youth and adult counselor. SMSgt Gibson is also a 1984 graduate of the Big “I”.

When an incident occurs involving the safety and well-being of our students, I feel it important to let you know the facts in order to inform you and to avoid miscommunication.

Bradley Gibson, an Independence High School ROTC instructor, has been charged by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department with multiple counts of Indecent Liberties with a Student by a Teacher. Mr. Gibson was arrested this afternoon by CMPD.

I want you to know that I take matters such as this seriously and will assist law enforcement in any way necessary in this active investigation. The parents of those involved have been contacted and are also assisting law enforcement in this case. Because this is an active investigation, I am unable to provide any further details at this time.
