A Lake Norman High School teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually related crimes involving a minor female.

The girl is allegedly the same individual who was sexting with disgraced former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner, a.k.a. “Carlos Danger.”

Jonathan Conrad Busch, age 54 (55 in December), of Mooreville, North Carolina has been charged with two counts of statutory rape of a minor under the age of 15 and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. Both sets of charges are felonies.

A secured bond of $20,000 was assigned and according to Gaston County records Busch posted out the same day he was arrested.

Busch was Social Studies teacher at Lake Norman High School. According to the school, he has resigned his position last week.  He was hired by the ISS school system in July of 2003.

Under North Carolina law, a teacher resigning due to an arrest an/or without giving 30 days notice is grounds for suspension without pay and/or immediate termination at the discretion of the Superintendent.

Alleged NC Teen who sexted with Anthony Weiner

The girl in question, who is now 18 years old, began sexting Weiner sometime in January 2016 while she was only 15.

Authorities did not specify how Busch and the girl met and indicated that the alleged interactions took place the same year she was sexting with Weiner; approximately from June and September 2016.

The following letter was sent to Lake Norman High parents by school officials:

Dear Lake Norman High School Parents:

“This letter is to inform you of an incident that we recently became aware of that affects our school. I want to ensure you are given accurate information and dispel any potential rumors.”

“I was notified that one of our teachers, Mr. Jonathan Busch, has been charged with four counts of sexual offenses in Gaston County. Mr. Busch has cooperated with the authorities, however, due to the nature of these allegations, he has tendered his resignation as a teacher in Iredell-Statesville Schools.”

“Though the charges against Mr. Busch are extremely serious, I can assure you that the alleged incidents did not occur on the campus of Lake Norman High School nor involved any current or former Lake Norman High School students.”

“Again, I wanted to ensure you received this information from Lake Norman High School and that you are aware of actions related to this incident. While I am unable to answer any more specific questions about the charges against Mr. Busch due to NC state personnel laws, I am happy to address any other questions or concerns you may have.”

“Thank you for your support of Lake Norman High School.”

The high-profile connection to the former Democratic Congressman has made national headlines, yet the ongoing and steady stream of sexual contact related arrests of North Carolina teachers have not.
