Another Day, Another N&O Shill Piece

Another Day, Another N&O Shill Piece. You can set your watch by it.

Love that hashtag – #RaiseTheWage. All the cool union front groups fomenting ire and leading strikes in order to pad their waning member ranks are using it.

Did someone say Union?

For N&O, Math Is Hard

The entire article rests on this opening paragraph’s premise. I’ve emphasized a bit here:

Everyone around Thom Tillis in the Republican House Speaker’s campaign for the U.S. Senate knows where he stands on North Carolina raising the minimum wage past the federal minimum of $7.25 an hour. He’s against it, saying it ought to be left to the states, a favorite cop-out of politicians who don’t want to take a stand.

The News and Observer is calling favoring states rights over federal intrusion a cop-out? WOW.   No, News and Observer — it’s not a cop-out, that’s a real position and a lot of Americans hold it.

Unfortunately, that opening paragraph wasn’t the only thing that smelled like week old Gouda left out on a counter. The title of the article is just as stinky and hilariously ironic, because it’s the News and Observer who is wrong and vague.  Clearly, math is not their editorial staff’s strong suit. Perhaps they’re using Common Core math.

Dear N&O,

Raising the minimum wage will not help the poor.
The vast majority of economists agree that forcing a raised minimum wage is a bad idea.
Even the CBO disagrees with you and Hagan.
The laws of supply and demand are not suspended for labor.
When you force wages to rise, employers bear that cost.
In turn, employers lay off workers in order to stay afloat and raise prices of their goods/services.
This higher cost of goods and services then is transferred to the consumer, who pays that higher price.
Those consumers will be some of those who were laid off in the first place and now can’t afford said product.
Good job! Or rather Good Jobless?

Thanks!
People living in reality who can do math

Tells Us, N&O: What do YOU pay?

Hey, what does News and Observer pay their staff? How about their interns? Minimum wage? Do tell News and Observer. Do you walk the walk or just talk the talk?
Tell us, what do you folks pay:

PAGING NEW MEDIA

Oh and Hey, News and Observer? You forgot to mention something in your shill piece and once again, the New Media in North Carolina cleans up your bias:

This is Kay Hagan following Obama’s Agenda yet again – it’s the recycled ‘eat the rich rhetoric’ and occupy style messaging. The News and Observer is clearly OK with that.  Their readers? Not so much.

Any bets on when Hagan will tell us ‘we didn’t build that’?
