Wake County subcontracted bus drive charged with breaking 3-year-old’s leg

A Wake County Public Schools subcontracted bus driver has been charge with child abuse tied to breaking a 3-year-old child’s leg.

Truesdale is accused of breaking the leg of a three-year-old child according to the arrest warrant. She was acting in the capacity of a bus driver, transporting the child from Durant Road Elementary Pre-K program to the child’s daycare.

Truesdale’s release order says she has to stay away from the victim.

Court records also show Truesdale has an open case in Johnston County that accuses a woman of assault and battery on Truesdale.

Current Role: Bus Driver; Student Transportation of America (STA), an outside transportation service used by the district.

Employment status: Removed from Route by Wake Schools in cooperation with STA.

STA statement:
“It has always been the policy of STA to adhere to the highest safety standards in each and every aspect of our operations. As a result, this driver was placed on leave as soon as we were made aware of the situation in September. A commitment to safety is a condition of every driver’s continued employment with our company.”

Statement from District: 

“The district is aware that a driver employed by a contract transportation vendor was arrested and charged with intentional child abuse with serious physical injury. As soon as the district was made aware of information related to a possible injury of a student, the driver was immediately removed from all routes serving our schools. In addition, the district has and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement throughout the investigation.”
