A teacher in the Alamance-Burlington Public School system has been charged with indecent liberties involving students.

Kenneth Ray Lockner, age 58, is charged with three felony counts of indecent liberties with a student. He was issued a $100,000 secured bond.
Indecent liberties with a student is a Class I felony carrying a sentence of 3-12 months.
On Nov. 6, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a teacher at Western Alamance High school having inappropriate relationships with students and indecent messages had been discovered.
The following day, the Special Victims Unit picked up the investigation and more students were found to be involved.
Alamance-Burlington Public Schools system released the following statement:
“Alamance-Burlington Schools was contacted today by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department about information they received that involved possible inappropriate activity with students. involving a Western Alamance High staff member. The district continues to work with law enforcement to ensure that this very serious matter is investigated fully. We encourage anyone with possible relevant information to report it to the sheriff’s office.”
According to school officials, Lockner has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Locker is a Latin teacher and works as the Men’s Tennis Coach and also the Swim/Diving Coach at Western Alamance High School.
Previously, Lockner was an Art teacher and assistant football coach at Hawfields Middle School. He has taught summer school and was also an assistant football coach at Western Alamance High.
State records indicate Locker holds an active NC teaching license issued in July 2017 that expires in June 2020. The license is for the areas of English 9-12, Latin 9-12, and Language Arts 6-9
Lochner is the third Alamance-Burlington teacher arrested in 2019.
In June, Derrick E. Covington, age 32, was charged with felony solicitation to commit sexual activity with a student by a teacher and felony indecent liberties.
In late July, Stuart Herman Jones was suspended after he was arrested on child sex crime charges in Wisconsin. He was charged with “using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime,” according to Alamance-Burlington Public Schools.
