A Gaston County teacher was charged with DWI and driving the wrong way on a dual lane road earlier this month.

According to the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, Laura Jo Coker, age 46, was arrested for DWI and a driving the wrong way offense on May 18th around 11:30 p.m.

Coker was later released around 11:40 p.m. with an unsecured bond amount of $2,500.

The Gaston County Schools website shows that Coker teaches eighth-grade science at Belmont Middle School. The school and district have yet to release a statement.
