Unanswered Questions On Those “10,000 Comments”

Those who attended the North Carolina Common Core legislative research committee meetings might remember remarks made by Dr. Atkinson about “10,000” comments or pieces of feedback apparently given on the standards prior to their implementation.

I’ve asked for those comments back in July and have yet to receive them. Perhaps publishing this question will help the data get to me. Continue reading

Common Core Aligned: “Common Core Quest” App

“…to create just these kinds of tests—next-generation assessments aligned to the common core. When the tests are aligned to the common standards, the curriculum will line up as well—and that will unleash powerful market forces in the service of better teaching.” – Bill Gates, 2009 Speech To Natl. Conference of State Legislatures

The goal is to align everything so that students and the money have nowhere to go but Common Core.

Last time, Tabtor. Today we look at “Common Core Quest”, created by OpenEd Inc. and available on your phone. Continue reading

Unanswered Questions On NC’s Common Core SBAC Field Test

A few months ago, I requested information on the Common Core SBAC field tests that went on this past Spring in North Carolina. I asked twice but perhaps it was lost in the shuffle.

One last question on this topic if you don’t mind?

This is a repost of my weekly DaTechGuy column: The Unintended Transparency Of Common Core Lobbyists

By A.P. Dillon

A few weeks back, I wrote a piece called The Unintended Transparency of Obama’s DOJ. This article is in that same theme of unintended transparency, only this time it’s Common Core related.

It seems that a lobbyist organization funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was caught targeting Catholic schools over their pushback on the Common Core State Standards. It goes a little bit beyond that, with this lobbyist accidentally contacting one of the more vocal opponents to Common Core in what seems like a coordinated effort to steer the narrative. Oops.

Gates Grants Show Push On ‘Personalizing’ Learning

I’ve gotten in the habit of checking out the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant site on a regular basis.

I recently pulled up all the 2014 ‘college ready’ grants. The amount of money being doled out for 116 grants was over $87 million. This $87 million spans only 2014 through 9/28/14.

The second largest grant was to the CCSSO for over $6 million to support the implementation of their ‘strategic plan’:
