Winston-Salem Police responded to a May 9 report of a teacher engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a Calvary Day School student.
An investigation began, involving Winston-Salem PD’s Criminal Investigations Division and Special Victims Unit.
District: Winston-Salem-Forsyth area
Current Role: Calvary Day School (K-12 Private school), Bible Studies teacher, P.E. teacher.
History: Worked for the school from Feb. 22, 2022, to June 3, 2024.
Employment status: Initially “on leave” pending an investigation, and then fired on June 3.
Statement from School:
“In May, we were informed of an allegation that Mr. Campbell had engaged in inappropriate behavior with a student. After receiving this information, we immediately contacted the Winston-Salem police department and shared with them what we knew. We also placed Mr. Campbell on leave pending the police investigation. On June 3, 2024 we terminated Mr. Campbell’s employment contract. While this criminal legal process continues, we are committed to fully cooperating with the appropriate authorities regarding these allegations as well as any additional information we may learn.”
