A former Buncombe County Public Schools special education teacher has pleaded guilty to the sex crime charges leveled against him in 2022.

ALBERT PAVON
Albert Pavon pleaded guilty on May 31 to indecent liberties with a minor, indecent liberties with a student, dissemination of obscene material, and third-degree exploitation of a minor.
The judge in the case sentenced Pavon to a total of 36 months which includes a three-month active split sentence. The judge also placed him on supervised probation and ordered him to register as a sex offender for 30 years. The registration order given to sex offenders is typically a ten-year period.
Pavon was also ordered to have no contact with the victim for the rest of his life.

Albert Pavon, now age 36, was arrested on June 23, 2022, and was charged with five felonies; one count of indecent liberties with a child, one count of indecent liberties with a student, and three counts of dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
The victim was a 15-year-old female who indicated Pavon had been inappropriate with her both on the phone and in the Snapchat app but also that he had touched her thighs and breasts in his classroom.
Pavon had taught at Clyde A. Erwin High School in Asheville.
According to the Buncombe District Attorney’s Office, the girl said that Pavon had told her “Once you graduate, if it wasn’t for restrictions, I would let you give try sexual acts.”
Since Pavon pleaded guilty, the State Board of Education can now revoke his teaching license which is set to expire in June 2024.
