A Tyrell County Public Schools teacher is facing multiple sex crime charges involving a minor.
Kacey Davenport, age 40, turned herself in to authorities on Jan. 5. She was charged with five counts of a sex act with a student, indecent liberties with a minor, dissemination of material harmful to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Davenport was issued a $100,000 secured bond which she has apparently posted as there is no current record showing her as incarcerated.
The Tyrell County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating Davenport, according to a Facebook post by the office regarding her arrest. The post also states the crimes were “committed over a span of several months in 2022.”
The Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information should contact their office.
According to records on file with the state, Davenport has an active teaching license in the areas of Elementary Education (K-6) and Media Coordinator. That license was issued in July 2021 and will expire in June of this year unless revoked beforehand.
