I’m old enough to remember when the PTA was a legitimate organization that, you know, was an association between Parents and Teachers.

Not so anymore.

One NC elementary’s PTA has decided to shove some social justice warrior BS down the throats of children and apparently without parental permission.

My experience with the PTA has been their main purpose is fundraising. I tried being involved in one, but I found it had less to do with actually working with the school and teachers on education issues of concern to parents and it was very ‘clique-like’. Then again, they all knew who I was, so maybe my experience was more about freezing out the conservative woman.

At Hunter Magnet Elementary the PTA is inserting ridiculous social justice warrior BS into the classroom.  Yes, I said elementary. Children that are usually ages 5 to 11.

Bonus, this is a “magnet” school.

The district is right, it is not part of the curriculum but this material didn’t magically land in the classroom. It had to be approved by the school for use in the classroom. Parents at that school out to be grilling the Hell out of that principal – Briana Pelton.

Parental Rights Trampled

In the article that ended up being published at ABC 11, the parent upset with the assignment is interviewed. Her name is Amber Pabon and she’s black.  Excerpt below, emphasis added:

“I think the message itself is inappropriate because yes there is racism out here, and they need to learn about it. But let the parents do that,” Pabon said. “Because like I said, if she’s teaching him the way she knows, it could be completely different from the way I know. And me being part of the black community, I know different from how the white community sees it.”

Pabon said she believes the content is also not proper for such a young child.

“He’s 8 years old. What does he need to know about racism or white privilege?” Pabon asked.

Well said on all fronts.

This kind of material is destructive. Children of these ages don’t care what color you are, only if you’re nice or a jerk. This is arguably teaching them that white kids are inherently jerks?

The flip side to that is now the white children are now are probably wondering if they are bad people just because of their skin color.

I applaud this mom for standing up and pushing back. Until parents do, the beatings will continue.

One part of the current situation at Hunter should set all parent’s hair on fire though. Pabon says she was not informed about this material nor any other of the alleged “11 steps” the Hunter Elementary PTA claims are part of this mess.

The sheet is titled “Step 3: (Begin to) Understand the Concept of White Privilege.” Pabon said she did not receive any previous steps or forms about the topic. (ABC 11)

This is not the first time this white privilege BS has been shoved down NC kid’s throats either, sadly.

Who the heck does this PTA think they are?

Parents also should be soundly questioning the PTA at Hunter and paying more attention to the Hunter PTA Facebook page where they have been openly posting this SJW BS with a ‘dear parents…” introduction.

Did this PTA expect these social media posts to serve as notification to parents and guardians? Did the school?? These are questions Hunter parents ought to be asking.

ABC 11 links to a site where you can get all “11 steps” and it’s a social justice warrior site titled “Citizenship and Social Justice.

The website appears to be exclusively run by this guy named Jon Greenberg. His “11 steps” were featured on all the lefty media sites around three years ago, but The Blaze also picked it up. Excerpt below, emphasis added:

Greenberg is no stranger to the topic of race and controversy. The embattled teacher faced off against his school district in 2013 when he was originally sentenced to an administrative transfer by the school district from The Center School when a family claimed he created an intimidating environment in the required humanities class on race.

The Hunter PTA really picked a winner in choosing this guy as a source.

His bio touts recognition by far left websites and by Teaching Tolerance, the education indoctrination offshoot of America’s favorite hate group that tracks hate groups – the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Jon Greenberg is an award-winning public high school teacher and writer whose work has been featured in Everyday Feminism, NPR, The Huffington Post, Teaching Tolerance, and Yes! Magazine. Creator and facilitator of the curriculum once named Citizenship and Social Justice, he has dedicated his career to social justice and civic engagement for nearly 20 years. He is currently working to ensure ethnic studies is taught throughout Seattle schools.

This guy appears to have made quite a career out of revisionist history by applying modern morality and social justice warrior logic to past events.

Everything I found about him indicates he eats, drinks and breathes social justice.
