Market Analysis Confirms Common Core Is A Cash Cow
A market analysis done by Onvia Inc. seems to be pointing at Common Core to be one of the biggest cash cows ever in terms of Education contracts and technology. Onvia serves a variety of industries, but the Education industry’s page was eye-opening. The estimated cost in the report is likely already out of date. The document also addresses technology as being one of the most expensive pieces of Common Core. Mr. Gates will be pleased to hear that after he dumped around $3 billion into pushing Common Core from his Gates Foundation.
This market analysis is a White paper on spending related to Common Core. Onvia quotes the Fordham Institute quite a lot throughout the paper – 17 times. The paper also makes CommonCoreAlignedreference to an Onvia database where a query on Common Core returned over 4,000 matches in project documents.

Common Core Architect Coleman’s Apoloattack
Politico has a little snippet up about David Coleman. In it Coleman is caught repeating the new talking point: Don’t attack the critics.
Coleman then turns around and attacks the critics in the last section of the Politico snippet while seemingly supporting their concerns. Amazing. Yeah, those data concerns… totally loony?

Advancing NH’s Public Education And Dishonesty
Well, the tide is turning on Common Core. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Demonizing the public, parents, teachers and kids to advance the Core has backfired big time. The PR/messaging behemoth behind Common Core needs a new line of attack.
It looks like the focus is now going after the experts who dared call out the flaws in the Core. At least for one New Hampshire guy.
@manateespirit Oh, I left one… Did you see the new shift? Going after Milgram not parents. Watch, Stotsky is next.

This is a bit ironic since prior to now, the powers that be behind the Core were doing their best to wipe out evidence of the Validation committee dissenters.
Advancing New Hampshire’s Public Education (ANHPE) has an article titled James Milgram’s dishonest critique of the Common Core math standards apparently written by Bill Duncan. Mr. Duncan goes after Dr. Milgram claiming the examples Milgram used in the Pioneer White Paper from 2010 called ‘Fair To Midling’ are flawed because… well, Duncan’s entire premise rests on the idea Milgram only used a portion of the standards and not the whole thing. This is a White Paper, Mr. Duncan. That comparison is called an example and is commonly used to represent a larger body of information because the rest is largely more of the same.
Let’s talk about dishonesty.
Dr. Milgram is a Mathematician.
Dr. Milgram is also a Professor Emeritus at Stanford University and is extremely well-known and respected. He was on the validation committee for Common Core and — clearly, someone thought he knew his stuff. For the love of Pete, his bio is on the NASA website.
Milgram’s out there for the world to see. Mr. Duncan? Not so much. Continue reading

The Army Of Davids Fighting Common Core
Professor Glenn Reynold’s book, An Army of Davids, has constantly been in the back of my mind whenever I am engaging in fighting Common Core. It was in my mind as I sat at the messaging and PR table for We Will Not Conform. The opposition to Common Core are an Army of Davids. The replay of We Will Not Conform event is tonight, by the way. For those of you unfamiliar with Glenn Reynolds, a.k.a. the Blogfather, visit Instapundit. I do. Every morning.
Anyway, as a blogger, I know the power of social media and the well placed headline or turn of phrase. I know how to take apart a narrative put forth by the other side. This gave me an edge in debating supporters. I use the term debate lightly. It was never debate on the standards for them. It was a debate on me. This is a crucial point. Common Core supporters did not defend the standards, they attacked the opposition. They tried to smear and demonize teachers, parents, grandparents and students from all walks of life and it has backfired in epic style.

Common Core Supporters Shift Talking Point
If there’s one thing everyone opposing Common Core has seen, it’s the talking point from the supporters saying that opposition to Common Core is “political”.
@educationgadfly says #CCSS should have been a “quiet experiment” and blames anti-Obamaism critics http://t.co/7A4JIn3FXQ #stopcommoncore

I’ve documented the ‘politicizing’ here in North Carolina – Rep. Cotham is one of the bigger offenders, but this talking point is a nationwide effort. Common Core supporters have a well-funded PR/messaging machine and they all tow the latest talking point lines.
Missouri Education Watchdog (MEW) has an article up documenting the latest shift.
#Commoncore is all about politics. Stop whining how it’s ‘political’. http://t.co/jplxrc2gmb #stopcommoncore @LadyLiberty1885
