Andrew John Myers, age 31, was arrested by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office on July 13 on 18 counts of sexual activity with a student by a teacher, 18 counts of indecent liberties with a student, and two counts of 2nd degree forcible sex offense.

According to sheriff’s deputies, the alleged incidents took place both on school property and in other locations off campus.

Myers was issued a $300,000 secure bond and was remanded to the Davidson County Jail. His next court date is Aug. 4 in Davidson County.

Investigators in the case ascertained that Myers had used his authority as a teacher to groom the 17-year-old victim into having a sexual relationship with him that spanned three months. The information came to light after the victim was seen at the Dragonfly House Child Advocacy Center.

According to the school district, Meyers was first suspended on May 25 and then terminated on June 13.

Meyers was hired by the Davidson County School District in August 2015 and was a science teacher and tennis coach at Ledford High School at the time of his arrest.

The following statement was released by Davidson County Public Schools:

“Officials with Davidson County Schools are aware of the charges levied against Andrew Myers, former teacher at Ledford High School. Initial allegations of inappropriate and unauthorized communications were made to school officials which led to an immediate investigation, a report to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, and a suspension for further investigation effective May 25, 2023 of Andrew Myers. Andrew Myers’ employment with Davidson County Schools terminated on June 13, 2023.”

There is no teaching license on file with the state for Meyers.

UPDATES

Department of Public Safety records do not show Meyers as an active inmate and Davidson County courts are not currently linked to the state’s eCourts system, making his sentencing difficult to determine.  Meyers was, however, located in the state’s sex offender registry, which showed he was convicted on April 1, 2025, on the charge of sex activity with a student.
